Matty peat is fine on the defensive side., its the attack that needs a full sorting out. Not been the same since deacon left and winder took over

I do love that type of moan.
I see Richard Agar threw it out this weekend too.

Looks like a Hardaker/Field/Smith axis for 2020. If Gildart and Burgess both go in addition to French and Hastings I doubt we're in a position to win trophies. As bizarre as it sounds, I still think we have to consider whether this actually matters until we get through this pandemic. We will still have a competent side (I'm sure we will recruit a little bit more) with an aggressive forward pack and we'll be competitive. I'm far more concerned about the sport over the clubs ability to win trophies atm.

We certainly seem to be functioning in a strange unreal bubble at the moment, which is a world away from the near-normality the NRL has managed to reclaim for itself over a period of a couple of months, and which at present doesn't look as if it will have ended even by next summer never mind the start of next season. It's literally anyone's guess what financial state SL will be in by the time this thing finally ends.

So I can't help but agree ... optimistic discussions about Wigan's recruitment plans feel vaguely irrelevant at present.

Which would some on here do, be a Coach at a smaller club where you are respected with more security and less pay or be a Coach at a bigger club where you are constantly in the firing line with less security, but more pay

That's the decision Watson has to make and which I made a few years and which proved in the long run to be the right decision.

The grass is not always greener on the other side!

French back to Parra to play fullback with Gutherson going to centre is the rumour from the Aussie press this morning.

Re: Rumours and signings v9 : Mon Oct 19, 2020 8:40 am
This season, 19 players in the Under 18 Academy and 42 players in the Scholarship have never played a game for the club which is very sad for the young players concerned.

It has now been announced that 17 new young players have been signed for next season's Scholarship with only two from Wigan St Judes and none from Wigan St Patricks, Ince Rose Bridge, Orrell St James, Shevington Sharks etc which make me ask the question, are youngsters in Wigan no longer interested in playing the game like in the past.

Over many years, Wigan St Patricks has been renowned for for being a conveyor line for producing players for Wigan Warriors, so why is that no longer the case.

Is it a indication of how the game in Wigan has no longer got the pulling power that it had during the days of Central Park?

If that now the case with fewer young players coming from the local amateur clubs, no games being played during the pandemic situation at the DW Stadium and no games being played at Wigan in next years World Cup Competition, we all should be very concerned about the future of the game in Wigan and not have the blazy and arrogant attitude that Rugby League in the town is still bigger than Football, especially with so many non rugby newcomers now living in the Wigan area.

In my opinion, all went pear shaped when we moved from Central Park, which may have been out of date, but had at least it had some character and atmosphere unlike the DW Stadium which is too big for the attendances now and has no atmosphere as a result of being a all seater Stadium.

I like French and he has done really well for us but I don’t know if he’s good enough for the Eels to be moving around their deck for?

Will it not be a Field/Smith/Tommy axis?
