Thing is, we could send all of them out on dual reg and play them whenever anyway. If we want players to get a full season away it can be on loan.

That being said, early cup rounds could be invaluable experience for the younger players.

I'd send those 5 to them as well, although the younger welsh lads will be some of those definately going.

The likes of King and Carberry who probably aren't "that" far away from the first team should be going into the championship if possible.

If they're not "that" far away from the Wigan team, surely lower level Super League would be better then?

You can't dual-reg to lower level super league though? It's not likely that once they get a chance in the first team they'll stay there all season, so if we want them to get games every week dual reg is the best option.

Ahh yeah, that you can't, sorry haha. Short loans then, if they're nearly ready for one of the top Super League sides Championship rugby wont do them much good.

With recruitment practically wrapped up for this year, looking towards next year and building to the future - who do we keep and who do we let go?

George Carmont - likely to retire at 34.
Stuart Fielden - Will be 33 (ouch). If he recovers from his injury, has a strong season and still feels up for it - I'd sign him for another year. Model professional - great player.
Brett Finch - Would give him a bumper contract to stay here for another couple of years. Class player and with Leuluai leaving - coupled with a young halfback this year in Mellor - we're going to need experience!

Stefan Marsh, Mike McIlorum, Chris Tuson and Amos Roberts. Big years for all of them. Marsh has to push for places in the first team and look capable of being a first team regular otherwise he will leave. Tuson needs a big season to prove he deserves to be amongst our fantastic set of young forwards. McIlorum must push on from international duty as a first team player and prove himself as a senior pro. Massive year for him. Amos Roberts' is on his last contract IMO. He will be 33 at the start of the 2013 season and I can't see another club picking him up.


Sean O'loughlin - no brainer four year deal.

Finch hopefully will be tied up for at least another season. As for Fielden he's the sort of player that's looked after himself that will you'd guess he could play until 35/36 but I think he may decide to have his swan song over in Yorkshire.

Is Lockers off contract? Like you say that's an easy call and he should be looking at a 4 year deal.

As for the other McIlorum will get a 2 or 3 year deal and I think Tuson will as well. Amos Roberts will be shown the door and Marsh may scrape a 1 year deal if he gets a few games in this year. Obviously I think this is Carmonts last year.

So basically were going to lose some important and experienced players next year in Tommy, Carmont and Fielden and we need to sign direct replacements for all 3 and they must be quality. We have enough time to weigh up who we want and there will be no excuses for not getting them.

Heard again yesterday that we had enquired about Wheeler and that we'd also enquired about the availability of Lee Gaskell?

I heard the gaskell thing a couple of weeks back but I would think saints would be after a big fee

Saints won't sell Gaskell, not to Wigan anyway.
