I wouldn't read too much into Gouldings squad number either, just remember back to last year when the 3 new recruits from Melbourne didn't get first 13 numbers, they just went with the players who finished the season the year before.

May as well give 3 to Goulding rather than leaving it empty, the only "message" you could give out with squad numbers is if you'd rather leave a starting number free for a player who may not materialise than give it to a player already in your squad.

Keith Senior and Martin Gleeson are both free agents.

Although Ian Lenagan states they will be 'young' players:

Definately worth a punt imo. Looks a top player whenever he can get on the field, it's just actually getting him on the field that's the problem.

He just strikes me as the type of player who is going to need a move to kick on, Saints will lose patience eventually and he'll end up going to Cas or somewhere similar and getting a good solid run of games.
