This is the gap in quality.

Saints are missing..

The best prop in SL
The best scrum half in SL
The best centre in SL
The best winger in SL

And still beat second place. That’s embarassing.

That said, I thought Byrne was easily your best forward with Farrell second. The rest were anonymous, especially Bateman. Why oh why did you break the bank for someone who is utterly terrible and offers nothing

The biggest annoyance at losing, is that you don't disappear for a week.

His shoulder hits his head. Red card.

The rule is terrible because it no longer accounts for whether it's deliberate, the position of the attacker, timing etc. Singleton is committed to what would probably be a legal tackle and the quick positional change of Sironen means he hits him in the head with his shoulder.

We're still winning the game with less than 3 minutes to go though and threw it away. That wasn't Liam Moore's fault.

You agree the rule is BS. Moore had a choice, be a jobs worth or actually play what the majority see i.e nothing in it.

What happened to, instead of forcing a black and white decision , looking at the the context or actual play (like you have)?

If Sironen doesn't stay down then it's play on. He actually fakes being injured, because he knows what might happen. That's not something I want to see in RL, as it's another small step towards diving. For reasonableness, Faz did something similar in the 1st 20. I'd happily see a pen reversed for players that jump up and play on after it. No place for simulation, or fake injuries.

As I said earlier I thought it was a yellow. But Iv always thought its a problem that players will inevitably feel encouraged to stay down on the floor. He plays the ball - the referees can't go back to it. So why wouldn't you stay down if you know that's going to result in the video ref looking at it from 4 different angles to find something wrong?

I don't think Sironen stayed down to 'cheat' and I don't think Farrell did. They both got smacked in the head. It probably hurt. Doesn't mean it's feigning injury, you just sometimes need a minute to get over the "shock" so to speak.

As I said before and to answer SP....the rule doesn't give the ref the chance to work out if it was accidental or not. His shoulder makes direct contact to the head.

I'm not saying they did - it's impossible to know. But the question is why this type of situation is different from any other situation on the field where there's a stoppage when VRs don't intervene. If you know you will get a 2nd chance at a penalty by holding your head in your hands then players will be tempted to do so even if they weren't hurt.

Because (& I wanna make it clear I'm including Faz in this) there's more to it than just winning a pen.

We're in the territory, of holding your leg like footballers do as you know it might go to VaR for a pen or the guy might get booked. Doesn't matter if you're hurt or if there's contact.

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

Confirmation of what we all know, we have narrowed the gap somewhat, and not closed it, not close yet.

Shorrocks, still to this day I do not know what he brings to the team other than effort. He has no clear talent that I can see, he isn't big, fast, strong or a good ball player.

Bibby, shooting out of the line is just plain dumb. Quite relaxed about him going, very average at either wing or centre.

Cust was slow to react to most things, said last week that this wasn't the game to bring him back.

Hopefully the disappointment will help some guys to learn a lesson, letting Hurrell offload with 4 men on him was criminal.

Turning point of the game was the daft offload from Bateman gave momentum back to Saints.

I know what you mean, but I don't think that was the case here as such.

Players holding their necks is one because they look for the crusher tackle penalty and a possible card.
