It's like my old grandad would say some Wigan fans ain't happy unless they are moaning which for the most is all what is going on here

The situation has been dealt with the person who did has been found

So why go on about a group of fans that basicly want to put some life into home games at the dw

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

Orrell Lad, of course you're right to ask that question.

Whilst both can be seen as a type of vandalism, many companies do use sticker campaigns to advertise themselves, stickers are very simple to clean, sliding off with relative ease using alcohol based solvents, and these can be removed from all surfaces. Spray Paint, on the other hand is undeniably not common place advertising, and does not clean of surfaces without a considerable amount of chemical and physical intervention. There are some surfaces (i.e. Concrete) which spray paint will not come off full stop.

So just because a sticker is easy to remove it doesnt make it right to stick it everywhere.

An extremist.

I don't think there is anything uneducated about peoples dislike of this term at all. If people attach yourselves with such a tainted term, they should expect their fair share of stick.

You may wish to use a well known video sharing site and search for "Tim Minchin - Context". When you take a word out context it is as meaningless as a word without a sentence.

Afterall, is an extremist not someone who has deep passion about something and supports that passion undyingly? You couldn't deny that a religious extremist takes the actions he/she does because of their unequivical passion of their religion, regardless of whether they are right or wrong.

The reputation of the term "Ultra" is precursive, and it's important to note that Football Ultra or European Ultra does not equal the same as Rugby Ultra or Wigan Ultra. Just the same as Extreme Muslim does not equal the same as Extreme Sport.

I don't need to watch any video, the context is a fans group and the word 'ultra'. You can try and separate the two by using contextual analysis all you like, if you choose a label that has been tainted by several troublesome football groups you have to expect the stink that come with it.

Any label could have been used instead, literally.

So you are moaning at us about being well.... a list of things that we are not, added to that many things you are clearly uneducated about. Why comment on things you have no idea about?? And yet you are happy to break someone elses possesions. I dare you to try :D you would be chucked out of the stadium before any Brigante for doing that I suspect.

I don't like you shouting so much during the game, I will just punch you? Is that ok? No, I don't think it is.
Some kid is blowing a horn, I will snap it in half.... The tannoy is too loud, I will just break the speakers.

If a drum can ruin your night I suggest you need help pal.

Oh BrettKenny you crack me up. I await a reply, I can almost be sure of humour.

So you think there is no difference between a DRUM and someone shouting at a game?

I would break that drum with no qualms whatsoever. I attend a rugby ground to watch RL, not for my ears to be subjected to mindless chinese torture. If I wanted to hear drums I would go to a rock concert.

What gives the "drummer" the right to think that he should be allowed to ruin some peoples night?

Rogues, you disappoint me. Until now I thought u were misguided but at least coherent. Re-read my post and you will find that I was agreeing with you in the red point.

The blue point I overheard two youngsters discussing the "Ultras" a while back.

Re: So who... : Fri Jan 20, 2012 8:15 pm
Okay, there's a lot of focus on negatives here. So, let's just take a step back here and look at things...

The negative here is that someone has taken it upon themselves to spray-paint the stadium "in the name of The Brigantes". The positive is that the Brigantes (who's brand was used) have addressed the issue, and have taken professional steps to deal with the situation approriately.

The negative is that some folk believe the Ultras term is typical of hooligans and violence. The positive is that the Brigantes (who brand themselves as having an "ultra's scene"), have acknowledged that they are aware of the pre-conception of the term Ultras and are taking steps to change that pre-conception.

The negative is that some folk disagree with what the Brigantes are trying to achieve. But the positive there has been a definate increase in noise levels within both home and away stadia during the 2011 season.

The positives are that, at away games, it is a majority who are involved with the singing and joining in. It is accepted by the Brigantes that it is more difficult to replicate the same at home games. It's difficult to replicate because there aren't 2000 fans at home games, there's 18'000, so that's 11'000 people who do, or dont, want to get involved. By the very nature of it, it's a lot more difficult to get 11'000 people on side than it is 2000. I think it's very important to identify that the Brigantes are managing just that, the numbers are on the up.

Think about the views of other teams on Wigan as a whole... The Wigan Walk, they never sing, they only sing when they're winning. Now look at the views of other teams on the Brigantes, Loud support, Vocal support, colourful displays, stay behind after games, sing for 80 minutes.

In everything in life there are negatives to the positives, you can't make an omlette without breaking a few eggs. What the Brigantes are focusing on is pushing the positives to the wider population, and addressing the negatives in house.

Nobody can force anyone else to get behind the Brigantes, all that can be done is to show that through the dedication to the team, the group is accessible and inviting.
