I feel sorry for the staff and some of the fans. However not those who will still try and blame Wigan Warriors for this in some way, shape or form. They frequent this site, so for clarity, Bullitt & Bickymon, I mean you.
In their warped mind It'll be our fault for not paying £3m a season in rent, opening a fan zone instead of having everyone buy food and drink in the DW, not paying additional rent for using floodlights for evening games etc etc.
The one that pees me off is their comparison that Hull/Huddersfield pay 1million compared to our approx 650,000
Hull and Huddersfield use the complete facilities at their respective stadiums 7 days a week, 365 days a year etc whilst we use it for approx 8hrs on matchdays maybe 13/14 days a year.
That's why the costs are so different and in some ways I'm not sure 55k for 8hrs is that good a deal.
When I heard they'd charged Sam Powell 55k for his testimonial let's just say I wasn't impressed.
Maybe if they were more open, happy to work together from the off rather than pandering to the knuckle daggers with talk of blue seats and renaming stands etc then things may/could have been different
As it is Wigan have invested hundreds and hundreds of thousands into developing Robin Park and reaping the benefits whilst owning the risk involved in that.
