Fine, and I'll stick with the image of Gildart going past last seasons Man of Steel as if someone had plonked a dustbin at fullback.

Obviously but the validity of his opinion is irrelevant. The point is statistics are fact and they carry more weight than one persons opinion and the statistics clearly show Percival is considerably better than Gildart.

So how do you compare statistics of 2 people playing in completely different teams then? You do understand the nature of statistics, don't you? Without a constant they are completely meaningless. Wayne Bennett's opinion, on the other hand, was based on having them both in the same set up vying for a place in the same team with the same personnel and structures. He chose Gildart. Now do you get it?

And Saints fans will stick with the images of Wigan fans watching Saints in the Challenge Cup final, picking up the LLS again and watching the playoff series from your armchairs..You will moan about the LLS meaning nothing but it shows weve been the most consistent team over 2 years and banked the £100k that goes with it.You wouldnt be bothered about the trophy but your chairman would love the money as ,if reports are to be believed your skint...

Well I'll most certainly watch Saints in the final just for the novelty value, after all it's been a very long time since you've been in one.

If your running at full pelt with acres of space either side of someone who is basically stood still, of course you’re going to go past them.

Really? I seem to recall Regan Grace in exactly the same situation with a support player inside him, yet bundled into touch by the covering Sam Tomkins!

That’s a load of nonsense. Should we get rid of the top try scorer award because everyone plays in completely different teams? Their stats are absolutely comparable, they both play centre and face the same opposition and given how good this Wigan squad is, Gildart is of no disadvantage in that regard. Literally your only argument for Gildart being better is that Bennett picked him which is a poor argument because he was rubbish anyway, apart from one try.

Arguably the most successful coach in RL history, I believe his opinion is valid.

He also thought Josh Hodgson was a better hooker than Roby so I wouldn’t get too excited about his opinion.

Gildart is a quality player though.
