I think G.Burgess could have a major impact on either our team or recruitment depending upon what happens. With him fit, we have him, Singleton, Bullock and Clubb as senior 1st team props, with a good crop of youngesters ready to replace them. If he isnt fit / isnt going to get fit, it gives the club a challenge as he is our marquee prop / leader of the pack, but not fitting the bill. i know the club cant just get rid as he is contracted but i am sure the conversations can be had? With regards to Clubb, he is in his final contracted year, and for me would be used purely as a rotation prop to give one of the others a rest if needed during the season, thus giving the young lads much more game time as they are all up to it.
if the names above are the only ones to leave, then it doesnt impact the 1st team squad too much as only Lockers, Flower and J. Burgess have really had any 1st team game this season, and all 3 of them have had their fair share of injuries. With Batemen and Field coming in, are we likely to see any further recruitment
The Mole is reporting, George Burgess could medically retire.

Whilst that is tough on George as he is one hell of a prop forward when fit. If its true, that makes the situation a whole lot easier for the club. It frees up cap space, which could be used to bump up some of the young guns contracts whilst also being able to bring in a quality prop (if there are any out there).
As i insinuated in my previous post with Burgess, Singleton, Bullock and Clubb we have a solid looking front row before we add in the capability of the young guys
if you take Burgess out, and how i perceive that Clubb is likely to be used, it soon looks a different picture
whilst all of our young players have excelled in the pack this season in trying circumstances, as we all know most props dont mature until they are slightly older, so we need to be patient with them and let them develop at their own speed, but at the same time conscious that they need game time.
If the rumours has any truth in it then it opens up all sorts of options for the club. Bring in a quality prop, up grade the contracts of our younger players. To do this IL & Rads will have played a blinder.
Clark was a waste of time and money. Glad we want to get rid
George Burgess as well. Two poor signings, one past his best with a bad injury when signed and the other a journeyman who never made any impact at any clubs he has played for, not even when at Leigh on loan.

On the whole, sadly yes with regards to Burgess. I don’t agree he was past his best but it’s clear his hip injury was far too severe and debilitating for him to play on. Doing so possibly risks his long term health and no career is worth that. I’ve said it before and I genuinely feel sorry for him. We threw silly money at him hoping he’d be our pack leader for years to come unfortunately his body just isn’t letting him. He’s best to retire medically IMO, not for anyone but himself and his family.
