Yet in the 2006 season our crowds actually went up. Two thousand off the gate last night was just the start of it. The fans are getting weary, IL must know this.
It's not the results thats keeping (most) fans away, it's the performances!
I think the crowds went up not because of performances but because the Wigan public saw we were in dire straits and in serious danger of being relegated. I know of many who started going again simply because they thought they could help in their own small way by being there.
In the second half when we dumped Nobles tactics we started to look promising and scored a couple of tries. Until he goes i feel that we will never take advantage of any attacking options in our squad.
Exactly.
We can see that playing more expansive works for us, so why when we get near Cas or at Hull last week when we went ahead does it seem the message is sent out, 5 drives and a kick?
The squad isn't worse, but the tactics, and the lack of rotation is. Noble just doesn't seem to have the balls to drop underperforming players, and play the youth. Good Wigan teams have always had a lot of Wigan players in. They have more pride and passion to play for the club, as opposed to imports who have no real desire to play, and know they will still be picking up their pay check.

aye ..the more we lost, the bigger the crowds.
i personally went to more games that year then in quite a few seasons previously....to get behind em.
this shower are a different kettle of fish.
on paper they are stronger than 2006, but on the field they play with the same lack of passion.
the crowds are already dipping, and it'll continue until we play attractive rugby again, and play with passion, and bring with it a few wins.
the paying public have had too many empty promises since nobby arrived, and lenighans not the saviour we all thought he was.
the fans are showing displeasure and summat needs sorting quickly.
its not inconcievable that we will be played 6 lost 6 ........what then??

It was exciting being in the relegation fight. This year no relegation, no excitement being "down there" hence less speccies.

I wasn't disagreeing with the reasons for the decrease in attendances. I understand why people are staying away. My point was I didn't want the notion going that 2006's performances were better than they are now. The attendances will probably fall back to where they were pre 2006 IMO as people become apathetic about going.

You have to say on the performances so far this season, it is more than concievable, I hate to say this, but I think that's where we will be after 6 games = zero points. I hope I hope I'm wrong, very wrong, but I don't think so.

This is the worrying thing, next 3 games Harlequins(away), Bradford & Leeds. Can't see us getting close to any of these hope I am wrong but Christ we are looking at 0 - 6. Steve McCormack anyone?????

Wigan were unfortunate getting Millward so soon after his premature exit from Saints. At the time his head simply wasn't ready to take over a team in desperate need of chemotherapy.
Since then the cancer has spread - terminally - and Noble's out of his depth.
As for comparing the two: Millward knew more about Noble than Noble's mother did. It's the reason he flat-lined him in pretty much every game that mattered.
