| I can never fathom why Yorkie folk dont just go M62 to the M6 then north a couple of junctions and off at Landgate, then its 5 mins tops to the JJB.
Messing about coming through Aspull / Hindley / wherever is a waste of time and soooo annoying.
Still, the more that go that way, the quieter it is for me

If i was coming from yorkshire i would do the following:
M62 come off at Jnc 14 (A580) follow a580 to Haydock Island on M6 (preston) get off at next Jnc (jnc25) down warrington road straight down to asda.
but if you know the area then turn left at Goose Green labour club then turn right at the lights first left onto billinge road to ormskirk road, the through the next estate (cuts out being stuck in queues)

I would.
The traffic is usually fine heading from Orrell to Robin Park...Especially if you skip the saddle by cutting through Norley/Worsley Hall (Well, that's if your wheels are still intact).

| From North Manchester I always come M61, J6 way, through Aspull. Just google mapped the other suggestions:
M61 J6: 21.9 miles, 40 mins.
M62/M6: 29.3 miles, 40 mins.
M62/East Lancs/M6: 25.4 miles, 43 mins.
Hardly worth worrying about!
Regardless, somehow I always seem to set off 30 mins before kick-off and still make it.

Or you could go down Bickershaw lane to Plat Waz, at the lights with the tan shop on the right, turn right towards ashton.
once you get near ashton turn right at the petrol station (think it Tesco express) follow road to top. (watch out for speed camera in dip as you pass 3 sisters) at lights turn right, follow road to round about and you then on warrington road (M6 Junct 25 entrance & Exit) follow road straight down to asda etc

Turn right at Hindley Green Bethel (Leigh Road) towards Leigh.
About a mile on your right you will see Bickershaw Lane, turn down that road and stay on it until you hit Abram, turn right at the junction towards Platt Bridge, cary straight on towards Wigan Town Centre.
15-20 minutes tops!
