I’d have let him go personally.
I didn’t like how his form was so poor for a lot of his time here but suddenly come the half way point and “contract renewal or shop window season” his form picks up. Further to that (and aside from that) I just don’t see where he fits in in 2024 with who we have and who is in front of him. I’m not going to go as far as to say ‘waste of a cap space’ nor a ‘waste of money’ but I will say we’d have better kept/spent elsewhere IMHO.
When you’re a team at the top we can’t be carrying passengers and that’s where I’d classify Mago I’m afraid.
Totally agree with you.
His performances over two seasons have been woeful. His improvement in recent weeks is from an exceptionally low bar and he hasn’t exactly ripped up any trees in his performances. I’ve seen comments where he’s been “exceptional”, “great”, “massive”. I’d say he’s been adequate and still incapable of doing decent minutes.
I will be exceptionally pleased if he makes me eat my words but he has a long way to go to change my opinion.
