Red Cards : Mon Aug 14, 2023 4:18 pm
A red card is an extreme punishment and I think it often exceeds the crime.Greenwood retaliated with a forearm push on Sunday after being clattered in the chops by a Saints forward. No video ref and he was wrongly given his marching orders by the referee after 28 minutes.
To play 52 minutes with only 12 men is a killer! The game is spoilt.
As a spectator I don’t want to pay good money to watch a mockery of a game.
It was the same with the Hull K R v Wigan cup semi. Was it really a red card? Did it really warrant it?
Nobody should be given a red card when the force of the tackle bounces off the ball into the face of the ball carrier. It should be a yellow.
I’m not saying a red card should never be given but only when a player is being over aggressive or vicious. We can all think of players in the past who have crossed the line.
When the judiciary meet to dish out suspensions they can make them severe so make any thugs think twice.
Have 10 match suspensions if necessary then we spectators can regularly watch 13 v 13 ( apart from the odd yellow card) and get our moneys worth.
