We have to play Powell surely? Why impose another game ban on ourselves.

Short turnaround from Wakefield to Saints then short from Saints to Wakefield then short from Wakefield to Salford.

Powell have at least a month off so may aswell empty his tank tomorrow.

Be good to have Ellis back and I would like Halsall to be involved.

My thinking is Powell is going to be missing for a long time so get O'Neil in against a team that's going to be tired after getting a right battering off their nearest and dearest (If Shorrocks gets picked at 9 then O'Neil might as well start looking for another club for his own careers sake)

Probably best plan for the young lad. Although it might cost us the game I’d like to see what O’Neil, Smith and Cust looks like together

It would be a big call I know but I think our best approach going forward is a French-Field-Cust combo (assuming Tommy is out long term).

I suspect O'Neill wont be included and we will use Shorrocks at hooker for the next game. Hardaker, Marshall and Thornley will hopefully be options for the 3/4 line in the coming weeks. Would also be good to see McDonnell get a run at some point.

I wouldn’t be risking French from the start in this one. Two games in four days, on the back of just coming back from twelve months out of the game and not having had a full pre season, is too much. Get him a couple of days of rest and then a spell of working hard ahead of Salford next week.

I’d give a couple of opportunities out to the likes of Halsall and McDonnell to freshen things up. I’d rest Byrne and Smithies after a busy start to the season for both and I’d carry O’Neill on the bench with a view to him getting some minutes ahead of a start next week (although I don’t expect he will get the start).

Obviously the score line was pretty healthy. What’s the thoughts of those who went?

Wakey poor, is good or a bit of both?

Bit of both. I thought we were pretty tidy, defended well, and of course Field and French were a constant threat. Some poor defence from Wakey for some of the scores , but a solid team performance. Pack went pretty well, Singleton, Ellis, Byrne and Mago all good. Smith had a good game and kicked the goals. We can't ask for much more.
