Eamon and Prescott : Sun Mar 29, 2009 6:51 pm
After now seeing both for at least a couple of games, which one do we see as a better prospect?

Eamon has impressed early this year and (rightfully) earned a starting place. Runs it in fast and is pretty solid in defence but I would like to see him be a bit more agressive. His injury has come at a bad time but I would rather in happen now earlish in the season than at the back end which should be(better be) play off time. Think his size could be an issue however.

Size is not a problem when it comes to Prescott. Hes a big lad and runs it in hard with a good second effort. Has come back well after quite a bad injury but I still worry that fitness could be an issue. We desperately need him to stay fit now with the injury to Eamon. I really think he can be a great player for us and a future lead by example kind of prop.

Really hope that we can keep hold of both of these two but if it came down to only being able to keep one I would keep Prescott providing he can stay injury free.

Thoughts?

Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.

Why cant we keep them both? People seem to think we can only keep one? Why?

Both are good prospects so I say keep them both!

Both are good prospects and both could go on and have very good careers at Wigan but i would say both need to show that bit more aggression. If you look at somebody like Graham he's only young yet is a snarling, jeering, aggressive ginger git and he fires up the rest of his side. I think thats great in a prop and is porbably what sets him apart from somebody like Prescott as a young prop.

Prescott especially out of our 2 has all the tools to be a top quality prop but as i say a little more aggression wouldn't go a miss.

Prescott is the better prospect and if he stays fit is going to be one of the top props in the league in a few years IMO

Eamon is also fantastic and will only get better

Let's not forget Ben Davies he is a really bright talent too

Mossop is also being touted as a prop

5 years down the line our 4 props could be Prescott, Eamon, Davies and Mossop  :D

Terry O'Connor was one of the best SL props and he wasnt exactly steaming with aggresion, James Graham is all fur coat and no knickers, now Adrian Morley, there is a prop with aggression and I would love for him to have played for us.

I know what you mean with O'Connor but he didn't take any crap and led from the front. I suppose they're qualities that build in time and injuries haven't helped somebody like Prescotts cause.

I'm confident he'll be a real top draw prop in a year or 2. In O'Carrolls case it may take a couple of years longer but he's another i'm pretty confident will get there.

I really hope you said that because you hate saints and dont actually believe it. Graham is an outstanding young prop and yes he is aggressive.

Not all great props have to be snarling looneys though .. Fairleigh at Saints, O'Connor ,Civoneceva(SP), Perellini .. all had/have more controlled aggression (less visable). Morley is another top prop but his aggression in the past has gone way too far and cost his teams dearly (30 seconds sending off for GB for a start).

Deffo, both are real good prospects and will come good in time.

Prescott is the hard working prop we are looking for to make the yards and make the tackles without giving penalties away either, in two or three years he will be great. Player most like - Terry O'Connor.

O'Carroll is more of an impact prop, one to get stuck in and rough it up a bit, plays with passion even if he isnt the biggest prop going. Good go forward- Player most like - Barrie Mac / Neil Cowie.
