The Blues regained the honours last season with a two-one victory over the Maroons to whom they had lost the honour in 2020. Queensland are currently leading through the ages with twenty-two series wins against New South Wales sixteen as the teams started the forty-first full series in the forty-third year. The Blues were slight favourites with the bookies, the Marrons getting a four-point start on the handicap coupon, but it really was anyone´s in what promised to be another close series. What a game.

Tedesco and Wighton outstanding in a losing effort.

Relative rookies in Carrigan and Cotter were superb.

Muster was the difference though.

With the odd exception State of Origin is consistently a different sport to what we watch.

It looks similar but is played on such a different level I don’t think you can say it’s the same sport.

The game today was the fastest version of the game I’ve ever seen.

How those players can put themselves through what they do for 80 minutes is insane, I don’t see any way in which they can enjoy it until the game is over and they are on the right side of the score and to be honest I’m thinking the first emotion must be relief rather than joy.

Ridiculous game.

Sometimes it's an actual crime that Rugby League is not universally regarded, beyond any question, as the most exciting sport on Earth. That SOO match tonight was one of them.

Absolutely this. I just watched it on Wednesday evening and what a match it was. Even the much-maligned Ashley Klein did OK, I thought. I was just thinking, what a shame the whole country isn't watching this.

That game was simply exceptional. And I don’t think there’s anything more to be said.
