I don't think anyone thinks he had a good year last year and prior to that he was never an England pick so I am not sure anyone is shocked not to see him in there at this stage of the season so I'm not sure why you seem to be making a big thing about it.
If though you don't think it's possible to be an integral part of a very good club side but not be selected for full rep honours then you don't know very much about the game as it has happened many times over the years.
Powel had a very good fist season under Lam, he was though poor last year. He has started his season well though and I believe has an outside chance of playing himself into the World Cup squad.
You are aware this isn't the final squad aren't you?
