Stuck with the KPP and thornley combo due to how effective it was against Wire so i want to see it in a league game, unfortunately this means Bibby drops out probably undeservedly. But i rate Hardaker more as a centre and Mashall more as a winger.
I have gone with shorrocks as loose as i really feel he would make loose his own given a run of games, i see him as the future of that position. He plays the most like one out of our current crop. Isa is not a loose and shouldn't be played there, if we were to play a non-loose type player there my vote would be on ellis as he has played here before for St george and we can run an extra "middle" as NRL teams do. The issue with that is the playstyle we seem to be (and hopefully are) aiming for does not lend into that.
Edit : just realised i completely spaced on Mago, replaces smithies, bloody hell this is hard work don't envy Peet

It's really pleasing to see a near full strength squad and some big decisions to be made.
The main one being around Hardaker if he is anything less than 100% I wouldn't play him but I am going under the assumption that he is give he has been named in the squad.
From the squad named i would go with -
1.Field 2. Thornley 3.Bibby 4. KPP 5. Marshall 6. Cust 7. Tommy 8. Singleton 9. Powell 10. Ellis 11. Faz 12. Bateman 13. Isa
14. Mago 15. Shorrocks 16. Byrne 17. Hardaker
Hardaker off the bench due to lack of pre season game time.
Well we'll find out how far we've come about 10pm on Fri night, after getting beat (easily) home and away by HKR last season I reckon we've got a real test on our hands as they look stronger on paper than last year. More than anything though I want some entertainment, another season of going to matches because you just feel obliged to rather than wanting to doesn't bear thinking about
I can't believe Bibby isn't an auto starter. For me, he's the best defensive back we got. He's been up against for more 'fancied' wingers and pretty much smashed all of them into the 1st row. Johnstone springs to mind as someone who's been in his back pocket on the last few times we've played.
Hopefully, as a side, we're seeing a return to the hard nose, brutal defence of Madge & Wane. Bibby brings that in spades.

He did have great moments last year, superb finishes and scramble tackles but for me he lacks two necessary attributes needed to be a top winger.
He’s quite slow compared to other wingers and also he’s dreadful under the high ball.
He’s a decent cover for the wing if we have a few out but not a starter at a top team imo.
I’d like to see what he can do with a run of games at centre as that’s what he sees as his best position.
I think Peet will go
Field Thornley Hardaker Bibby Marshall Cust Tommy Singleton Powell Ellis Bateman Farrell Isa

Same for me other than I would give Hardaker another week or so, only just back into full contact training so would give him a bit longer to get up to speed, Bibby to start for me
