A lot of what happens in regards to our centres next season depends on the form of Gleeson this season.

If Gleeson has a storming season then it would make it a lot easier to draft in a youngster to replace Carmont as we will at least know we will have one world class centre in the squad.

If Gleeson isn’t performing however it will throw a major spanner in the works as there is no way we can go into a season with an underperforming centre and a youngster as well.

If Gleeson doesn’t perform then it may force Maguire’s hand to look elsewhere for an attacking centre threat.

I really hope Gleeson performs next season as he’ll be a major asset for us and it would also allow us to look at strengthening other areas knowing the centre spot is covered.

I see the centre position as a real problem for us. I'm still not convinced that Goulding will make it at the top level.
Thornley is probably two to three years away from being first team material and I still believe Marshs' best position to be at fullback.

So IMO it's vital that Karl Pryce performs this season, because if he doesn't we may have to look for a player from outside the club.

Lets not forget Carmont still has that 2nd year option on his contract. I wouldn't bet against him taking it up nor would i bet against him losing any sort of the form he's shown in his time here.

We just need to smarten up in the way we use him and offer him more rest periods both game wise and possibly in training as well.

We’ve got a strong squad with some good depth so it wouldn’t be a major disaster to rest Carmont against some of the weaker teams in the league. After all if we truly wanna be challengers then we can't depend that much on one player.

Karl Pryce will never play Super League regulary in any other position than winger.

I disagree I think we will be a centre.

Regards the young lads they should be being groomed as a replacement for Gleeson in my opinion not Carmont. The only real possible replacements at this stage for Carmont are either Pryce or Goulding in my opinion and both need to make a claim this year if they are to be retained.

If 1 of those 2 fails to step up to the mark then I think we will have to look to recruitment from outside the Wigan area!! I can hear the complaints already!

Regarding Gleeson; he looked very sharp and 'up for it' against Wire. I know that was only a pre-eason friendly and we need him to come good throughout the season, but let's not forget that he only joined half way through last season and did OK. With a full pre-season behind him and last season serving as his 'bedding in period', I can see him going well for us this time round.

His touch judge/Winger should see plenty of ball this year by the looks of him

In all seriousness i've been impressed with Gleeson since he came here tbh. He sured our right hand side defence up first of all and we seemed to score more trys down that side at the back end of 2010. His attitude has also seemed spot on and he brings bags of experience.

It's 5 years too late but he's finally at the club he wants to play for and he looks happy.

He could eventually play centre for us but he needs a long run to bed back into first team rugby on the wing imo. He looks abit off the pace when I see him to defend in the centres but that sharpness could come 'if' he ever gets a run of games.
