Feels like a new "loans" team about to be announced for Sunday. Harvey Makin first in. Totally passed me by that he appeared once for London last year.
Reiss Butterworth won't play against his own team even if we extended.
yet ready for teams in the same league and on short term loans.

Fenton Rogers of course. Not Butterworth who becomes an issue next week against Hull KR.

Oh dear indeed. Is there no end to what these northerners will do to get back to their mums!

Re: Huddersfield - Home : Sun Mar 31, 2024 6:08 pm
I found that really dispiriting primarily because, and I don’t mean this in a snide way-possibly they had injuries, they were pretty mediocre for at least half of that game and ended up with an easy win.
We really should have made that a closer run thing and we also benefitted from Livett not being able to hit a cow’s backside with a banjo on the extra points but we didn’t take our chances, gifted them points and ran out comfortable losers. Really difficult to see a less revved up side turning up at Plough Lane so am beginning to think we may actually not win this season. I thought Leyland played pretty well but does anyone understand what that short drop thing he does is. Did we gift them a try and two point penalty from it or is my memory failing. Again I’ll have to see the replay but that effort by Walker to ground the ball appeared to be comical in its ineptitude resulting in their first score.
Who are our creative players these days? Is it Meadows and Leyland. I may not agree with the comic who shouted out “what’s the point to you Meadows” but I think he has some way to go before he’s a strong SL player and if the only partner he’s going to have is Campo the he too needs to step up ASAP because I’ve not seen that much from him (once he comes back from what I assume is an injury-information black hole from the club on that). Basically if we don’t bring some in I struggle to see many positives this season.
I should add that Kershaw played on one leg for 75 minutes. He did pretty well but that can’t have done him any good and Butler looks a bit shot. I suspect he’s carrying a knock and could really do with a few games off. Lowell’s leg is all bandaged up but he seemed pretty lively I thought.

At least we got a taste of what it’s like to score first.Inevitable that they would eventually steam roll us.Atmosphere went from quite good to throughly disinterested 2nd half which reflected the game.Crowd back to Championship levels.Roughly 350 Huddersfield.A few usual faces missing due to it being Easter. There was a young couple sat near me who didn’t even know what sport they were watching,so don’t know where they were dragged from.Eccles said that he’d offered to take Kershaw off but he’d insisted he was ok to carry on

Yes attendance was down but still quite a few new faces and families so that is good - although as we’ve all said on here heavy defeats are less likely to encourage people to return. Not a huge number of Giants fans but they made some noise. As you say volume from Broncos fans drifted away as the game did. Really unclear where we go from here.

I didn't hear an announcement on the number attending. I'd guess about 2000? I sat in front of a couple of union fans first half who said they had acquired free tickets. Oddly for Easter Sunday all my transport options were working..i guess we will witness quite a few more results and performances like that. I can see crowds like yesterday being the norm as we move into summer and people have more options of things to do at the weekend.

Beginning to feel sorry for Cakeman, he's trying to talk a good game but as each defeat slides by, it sounds more hollow by the minute. Unless I've missed it, I'm surprised none of the journos have asked why the squad is so poor. Doubt they'd get much of an answer though.

Couldn’t agree more: and on both aspects. He’s definitely got the team playing for him and they go the full 80 but very little flair and not enough beef. I found his list of big forwards missing that was offered as a reason why we were struggling to match other teams to not be particularly credible. B Leyland, Waine and Natoli were great for us last year in the Championship but I’m not they are in the category of huge forwards other teams have. Bienek is a miss and Butler not being fully fit is also a problem but even so we are short in that department and have not replaced either Norman or Whare which leaves us a top end but not TOP championship side. Grim.
