You know if IMG wanted evidence of why the current play off promotion system doesn’t work we’ve given it to them. Here’s hoping we can ‘respect’ the league a little more effectively than we did the cup. This ain’t great.

I'd like to think we'd have recruited differently had we not been relegated on IMG points in the same breath that we got promoted. I'd like to think that, but I'm not sure we would have.

Broncos have not respected the cup for years.

True but we usually respect the league. This year not so much. I haven’t got a clue what our aim is this season. But I hope we start planning for the championship next year really soon because we are going to have to start again after what looks like a totally dispiriting season.

Our aim for this season seemed to be: if our players play really well, they may get picked up by a Super League team for next year.

And that's the truth. And it doesn't look good.

[quote="Benny Profane"]Our aim for this season seemed to be: if our players play really well, they may get picked up by a Super League team for next year.

I can see that will be the aim of a number of our players- fair enough. But what is the club’s game? Have we recruited on one year contracts decent Championship players on the basis they’ll stay next year and aim to replace the players who will leave, Kershaw, Kennedy, storey etc with reserves who will have benefitted from a further year and a more proactive recruitment policy than we’ve shown last two years. If so, might work. Might not but what about growing the club? Week in week out hidings just aren’t going to do it. On the face of it we’ve made fundamental planning errors as per season 2022- ‘there are loads of decent RL players who will come down south to be part time brickies’.

They must have sold some sort of vision to the new players about how they saw the season going & I doubt it was "come & join us & get thrashed every week because we're going to run a threadbare squad of mostly Championship level players". All very depressing.

Although the narrow loss to Wire was disappointing on the plus side i see we dodged Saints away. So focus now on the League.
