To be fair, i'd complain about going to Dewsbury.

I certainly complain about that pub near the ground with the miserable landlady. The Royal Oak.

Well NB, I started following the Broncos in 1996. We are still going, however now, we are three generations that go.
What is more, we pay to go, unlike you !
I will add, I see people at Trailfinders who I recognise or know from the days at the Valley.

There might be GDPR issues with that. It's not my area but I know you have to be careful in sharing people's details with other organisations.

This is true BUT the RFL could have asked as part of the application for WC tickets if people we’re happy to share their details with RL clubs.

Let’s assume there are 50,000 applications for tickets and 20% come from the south east, and of those 10,000 10% said it was okay to share their data (possible that might have been a higher percentage) that would have given the Broncos 1,000 people to target. It don’t sound a lot but I think potentially it is invaluable. Even 10% of that potential number attended Bincos home games is a extra 100 people on the gate. At £20 a head over 13 games that is £26k a year which at our level is one excellent player. It doesn’t sound much but it is.

And all of this would have virtually cost the RFL nothing!

At the same time who at the Broncos has approached the RFL to ask them to ask for permission to share this data?

For me the RFL are poor to not push the Broncos, but the Broncos themselves are at fault too to not advertise themselves too.

Gretofax (wrong spelling I know) or whatever his/her current psnonim is had it right for me London has to sell it’s self first.

PS I think this thread is one of the best I have read for a while.

The sky viewing figures are pretty irrelevent to the arguement. Put money on it the folk that are watching RL on sky in the south are those saints, wigan, leeds, cas, fans etc that live down south. Those folk tend to come to watch London broncos once only in a season.
They are never going to flock to london as proven already

This is just utter nonsense.

Why is it utter nonsense? Do you honestly think there are hordes of people watching rugby league on sky that are not already rugby league fans?
If so then think you have it very wrong! Look at why folk pay for sky sports, to watch the sport they love, not some other random sports.

No mate, you're the one claiming that the people in southern England who watch SL on Sky are exiled northerners. Your claim. Not mine. Nor anyone else's. So back it up.

26k may get you a good player in Fev but you could easily pay 14k in rent or more in London so unless you were living with parents or in a flat share, its not that attractive for full time players.

DC,

I appreciate that, I was just trying to put some values in relation to the suggestion to the marketing to people buying WC tickets, which I still believe would have been a good shout. Which points out it might not be as lucrative as it seems on the face of it, I just get the impression (how be it from 175 miles away) that London could do more to sell themselves in general.

Absolutely mate, you can see it from 175 miles away but the club often don't see it from the end of their noses

They haven't been able to see beyond the end of their nose for decades.
Well at least since the days of Gus Mackay ( shudder!) at the Stoop .
