Welcome to the boards smithers..,..AFC fans are what's needed here
I fall into the category as a family who simply found Kingsmeadow as a stadium unenjoyable because unless you got a good seat you couldn't see anything. It probably improved over the years but initially standing with no elevation wasn't fun. AFC Wimbledon were always too big for that style of stadium, my view may have been very different if crowds were around 1,000., .
So were effectively waiting for a new stadium.where it wasn't pot luck what you could see (on the pitch) on the day. I'm excited that the London Broncos will hopefully play at the new Plough Lane and have been reading this board for a while in anticipation. The home fixture list WILL go in my diary next year with the expectation of attending many.
I don't know enough about the DNA of the Broncos to comment on what's right. In terms of the actual stadium (Plough Lane) if feels to me ideal. I’d love it to work for the Broncos, and if affordable, it offers so much. The Fans Zone behind the South and East Stands has surprised everyone. Local breweries, street food vans etc. The scope here for the Broncos is huge, especially with the summer season. Hopefully the agreement allows the Broncos to make money in a similar way...
I honestly can’t believe how good a stadium AFC Wimbledon have built, it’s beyond what the hardcore and the “hangers on” like me believed we were getting and it can be expanded from 9,200 to 20,000 if necessary and affordable in the future. I do feel it will work very well for a field sports team, but I can't say if it's right for the Broncos either financially or location wise.
I assume the Broncos need to add new local support to the existing hardcore. AFC Wimbledon supporters being a captive market in that they are already sold on the stadium. We've already bumped in to people at the ground or spoken to/been told of indirectly of, who have been to their first ever AFC Wimbledon match this season. They or similar people will no doubt do the same London Broncos matches. Even better will be enticing back some of those supporters lost to the Broncos. .
