York were a stand out club for social media engagement towards the end of Oxford RL The club was close to being in its knees a year or two earlier, victim of a very rare Oxford away win up north and shedding fans at an alarming rate. The ground redevelopment then saw them playing at an NCL ground for a while, shedding more fans. However the club were getting things right behind the scenes, rebuilding links with local community RL, employing a talented young coach and engaging a fan with social media skills to drive community engagement. I believe he was a volunteer, if he's still doing it I suspect the workload means he would be paid something now.
Whilst it has to be said they benefitted from the decline of York City FC, any lower level rugby league club looking for a model club regeneration example could do far worse than talk to York. The behind the scenes work and planning leading up to the move to the new stadium was very impressive.
