Should Super League teams be docked points? : Thu Jul 22, 2021 10:21 am
So SL games get called off if 7 players are covid affected without penalty. I find it hard to believe A SL team cannot put a team out with only 7 missing. They have a 25 man squad & Academy so it might not be their strongest but it protects the integrity of the competition that the RFL said was so important in our points deduction.

The protocol for level of covid positive players had to be set somewhere, 5 7 9 11
Putting out a team of kids does nothing for the integrity of the comp, cas have proved that with their game week before wembley! So reckon the question should be directed that way.
Our points deduction, refusing to travel so close to the fixture was the big problem, reckon the decision was more financial and fear of the result rather than covid driven.

Doubt you're right on this one. We just decided to fight the wrong reason & at the wrong time. Maybe then the points should have been awarded to the non covid affected team so there was an incentive to maintain strict protocols. With the number of SL games called off compared to say RU something would appear to be not quite right.

Given the rather large number of cancelled games (compared to football & Union), is it not time that RFL/SL carried out a full enquiry & any clubs found to be in breach of agreed covid protocols be punished severely. They most certainly have made a mockery of this season & in my view brought the game into disrepute.

It is becoming a complete Joke now! what proof does Super League demand from teams, anyone can claim Covid infections, and they want to run a World Cup?

Jaybs, you might think otherwise but pretty sure the clubs would have to provide names and details to the RFL when covid protocols are in place. Not forgetting we have just cancelled a game for same reason.

I don't have any real opinion, I would just like to know, many Super League sides have cancelled many more than our one game, I would just like to know the procedure? and on other RL general forums, I'm not alone.

Still say, RU did not seem to have all these problems!

Of course RU lost no games, no actually they did. If I recall ru internationals got delayed, Exeter certainly lost a few games, didn't take much notice of rest of em. Also think about the dynamic of how a virus works, once its in a group that work so close together even with isolating its gonna float around.
Protocol for reporting cases is available on RFL website, has to be full written report for each case.

Yes there were games called off in Union but that attracted a penalty of lost points which impacted on league position as the team that had the covid issue were deemed to be at fault. That of course gave clubs the incentive to ensure games went ahead. In League it appears to be "never mind chaps doesn't matter, let's move on". I still find it hard to understand how 2 teams can play in the Cup final 1 week then both be unable to put a team in the field the following week because of covid without some sort of breach of covid protocols. If that is the case, they should face some sort of penalty in the same way that we have for not going to Toulouse.
