One year of failed promise and we are looking at the same type of has been/never will be player, nice! So much for watsons ability to bring players on, now we are after Chris Hill?!!? lol. I did say at the start of season that some Coaches only ever shine at one club and cant replicate elsewhere and maybe Watson is one of those....

Watson only had a 49% win record for Salford. For context, Woolford's was 48%.

You hired him, presumably, based on a GF run that was created by Jackson Hastings and Joey Lussick and a cup final appearance that we didn't win after having a fairly easy run to it. Watson thought he would leave while his stock was high, which is fair enough but if you think that for some reason your fortunes will change overnight you may be in for disappointment. Watson when at Salford had a real reluctance to promote the good quality young lads from our academy, and it seems that continues at your club. This isn't a bitter 'rub it in' post from a Salford fan either by the way. While we would have been happy for him to stay at the time, the way he manufactured his exit showed a different side and we wouldn't have him back for anything.

He may come good for you, but I think his success (the small bit he has had) with Salford relied heavily on a few quality players in Hastings, Lussick, Evalds, and a pack punching above its weight rather than coaching genius. He did seem to have a knack for getting the most out of players that were seen as average at other clubs, but once again a lot of that could be attributed to raising their game due to the likes of Hastings and Lussick pushing them around the park.

He may come good, but I think you'll need to stick with him for a while before you see a great deal of improvement. Whether you all have the patience for that is another matter of course.

Was never over enthused by Watson's appointment and seen nothing to impress and show any improvement from last year. Obviously decimated in the key areas so got some mitigating circumstances that give him some leeway and deserves a run with a somewhere near full squad. Ref the comment about young players, that does worry me and have seen signs of that.... Oliver Wilson for me would have been a regular from the first game but seems to have only come in when we ran short of players. Posted that Sam Wood going - bring him through the academy get to first team then let him go... Chris Hill rumoured- can't be serious!!! Bringing in at least one more Salford player- we are becoming Salford. Is this the way forward? Yes some younger players have played but I feel only through necessity not choice- Jake Wardle a shining star but we don't seem to use him much in our play and how long before he goes?

As a Wigan fan I have seen fans wanting Watson to come in at our club. He had some success at Salford but as some of their fans have posted he may not be the chosen one. I fancied the Giants for a top 4 finish this year, I’ve been impressed by the quality of the young players coming through and add a much vaunted coach I thought you may have been challenging. Good luck going forwards.

Not quite whilst Saints had one former red Castleford had five in the cup final Evalds/Griffin/Turner/O'Brien and Olpherts.
At least we continue the supply chain, not bad for a club not allowed an "elite academy"

That said maybe the snake will make you into Salford with Tui/Seb and Fages.

Agree with most of what Carnster I mean The Butcher says however I'm not sure a cup run involving Catalan and Warrington can ever be described as a "fairly easy run"

With the injuries we've had in such key positions and the obvious impacts Covid has had for all clubs, I'm not sure we can even begin to judge Watson yet, although I like most am a bit confused with our recruitment. Nathan Mason now being linked with a return & Chris Hill an almost certainty.
