Good signing to settle the team and get us through this rough patch we are having. Can only see him coming on a short term deal till the end of the season though with the possibility of extending if everything works out as we'll be planning for next season already and with plenty of movement in our salary cap due to payers leaving and retiring.

We have Wardle, Lawrence, taai, Patrick, three of those can play 80 minutes- that's before we start on Oli Roberts and other youngsters waiting in the wings.

can see why as we have such a small squad and suppose he does have experience and we need a 2nd rower, must come cheap if he does!

Why do we need a second rower- it's the one area we have plenty of cover and some youngsters ready to step up! For me it's the wing and props we are struggling.

If it was tomorrow I'd be convinced this was an April fool joke.

Second row is the one area of the team we need to improve. We have probably the weakest 2nd row in Superleague. I wouldn't sign Tickle but at the moment we have Ta'ai and that's it. Roberts looks a good prospect but Lawrence and Patrick should be nowhere near our starting second row. Lawrence is a light prop. Patrick needs to prove he's something more than a substitute who can score the occasional highlight reel try.



We need aggressive strong runners. Neither of those players are either of those things.



We need some mongrel, players who will hurt the opposition.

I find it hard to believe that there is not some decent Aussie/ polynesian desparete for a contract

Exactly we are bottom of the league- for me signing a player like tickle who hasn't played a game all season and Widnes don't even want as back up suggests we are going to stay there! He is no better than what we already have IMO- and our best prospect for a while in Oliver Roberts is going to be the one missing out!

The same Michael Lawrence who Baloo said is the 1st name on his team sheet every week ?

honestly dont think this oliver roberts kid is as good as everybody thinks he is hes not stood out to me at all. in saying that hes not done anything wrong either.

Again not a champagne Charlie- He's a solid tackler, makes metres, busts tackles and runs good lines. What more are you wanting?

Roberts is great prospect, runs some great lines, almost did do what your asking over saints first game of season too. But as soon as one of these mythical beasts becomes available I'm sure Anderson will be in for them.

Moot point that, when you have moved a Centre to shore up the pack it must say something.

The expectations of some fans that every player we have should be a world beater without any weakness (but, of course, with some 'mongrel') are just, well, I won't use those words, but seriously, some people need a healthy dose of realism.

Being the first name on the team sheet does not equate to being a good second row or even a good player. To throw your argument back at you the same Michael Lawrence Paul anderson brought a player in on loan who had we been able to sign him would be occupying the place ahead of him.



You are mistaking evaluating a players strengths and weaknesses and make an honest assessment with dismissing a player entirely.



Lawrence is an excellent tackler and a workhorse. He is not a strong aggressive runner. Often he hits the defence and is stopped. The former are excellent attributes for a Prop. The latter is essential for a second row.



If he bulks up some more he could be an essential part of our front row.

wardles long term future is as a 2nd rower, just having to do it abit sooner last year because of ferres being out banned/injured and again being rushed abit because we are short in that area
