what were they going to say?
"we're really down at the moment because we know saints will smash us"?
It is their duty to big themselves up, and on current form why not? Am I right in thinking Hudds are top of the current form table?

A quote from Brett Hodgson. I don't see any gobbing off he merely states that he hopes this year will be different and that we will be the one to end Saints reign. He certainly doesn't state that we will beat them merely that we are confidant we can play well and if we do that who knows.

"Everyone is excited," added Brown, who has guided the Giants to third place in the table in his first season. "We've won six in a row and I think the team is improving.

"We know it will be hard but we're confident we can get the job done. They have won the last three so they're entitled to be favourites but our form speaks for itself.

"We're definitely going in there with the belief that we can win."

Nathan Brown statement. Again no gobbing off he merely points out we are playing well and that the players are confident they can win. What do you expect him to say "Nah mate, we haven't got a hope. Saints are a much better side and will clearly beat us"?

The byline of the third story, which is just a rehash of the first, even says "Hodgson Optimistic of Challenge Cup Success". Not certain, not even confident, just optimistic.

Personally, I'm very glad about that. The last time we tried to big up a match it was the Grand Final last year and look what happened, for a second time on the trot. Also, we had some comments about Magic weekend, just before Magic weekend, and looked what happened to us there. I'd much rather our guys stay quiet and just get on with the job on Sunday. We're going to struggle for lots of reasons - dodgy form and a significant injury list for two, big blokes on your side and the best defense in the league from you for four - so we really don't need to bring attention to ourselves before the match. We're hardly in a state to do that. However, you are, so go for it is what I say.

You also have to apply some common sense to the situation too. We're long odds outsiders according to the bookies; pound to a penny these reporters start with this fact and then ask what they think about it. We're hardly going to respond saying we have no chance, are we.
