BUFFALOES OUT TO QUELL THE STORM! : Sat Apr 10, 2010 10:20 pm
BUFFALOES OUT TO QUELL THE STORM!Bramley Buffaloes bring their 2010 season preparations to a close next Sunday (April 11th) with a home friendly at Stanningley against South London Storm.
The reigning champions will be looking to make a strong start against the Londoners outfit and Buffaloes coach Mark Butterill is taking nothing for granted: “We’ve been working hard on the training ground throughout the winter and we are now raring to go but South London will present a stiff test.
“We’ve already notched a good 46-2 win over Wigan Riversiders and will be looking to kick on from there in a bid to get into full flow for the start of the season proper at Hemel on April 18th .
“It promises to be a competitive season particularly with the arrival of Kippax Knights in our division and there will be no room for complacency at all. It will be a long, hard summer and we are aiming to make it another successful one for all of our loyal followers,” added Mark who is buoyed by the return of flying winger John Richardson to the fold after a stint in the professional game at Hunslet Hawks.
“It’s great to have John back at Bramley. He knows what it takes to succeed at this level and he’s just one of a number of new recruits who could shine this season with key playmaker Tony Williams also returning. The likes of Junior Branford and Daniel Lavery could also feature against South London and they will all benefit from the knowledge of our older squad members.”
The Buffaloes have seen sales of season-tickets hit an all time high and are expecting a healthy crowd next Sunday for the 4pm kick-off.
Supported by the RMT, Unison, Co-operative, Resource Print Solutions and marketing consultancy PRomotion, the Buffaloes were formed by supporters as a community owned co-operative after the demise of the original Bramley RL club in 1999. In 2004 the club took their bow in National League Three in
front of 1200 supporters and have appeared in the last five consecutive Grand Finals, winning two.
Season-tickets are still on sale with a free replica playing shirt included
in the £50 / £25 cost. Contact Martyn on 07903246337 for more details.
