BUTTSY PLEDGES FUTURE TO BRAMLEY!

Bramley Buffaloes coach Mark Butterill has committed himself to the community owned club by penning a new three year deal.

Widely regarded as one of the brightest coaches in rugby league, the former Bramley RL professional marked his first season in charge of the West Leeds outfit by leading them to their second RLC National Grand Final triumph in five years with a comprehensive victory over Huddersfield Rangers at Warrington last October.

“I’m delighted to be able to pledge myself to Bramley,” explained Mark “and I’m looking forward to building on the success we had last season.

“We have a great set up here with a smashing bunch of players, an excellent and vocal fan base, the full support of a very proactive committee and outstanding match day and training resources at Stanningley’s Arthur Miller Stadium.

“You need to get all the ingredients right to deliver success on the field,” added Mark “and I’m very pleased to say that Jon Nicolls will be joining me on the coaching team after he also signed a three year contract.

“Just as I learnt the ropes as a coach under Paul Cook so I hope will Jon be able to develop his RL coaching career here.

“We are both fully committed to seeing through the 'vision' of making the Buffaloes one of the leading amateur clubs in the country with a view of joining the professional ranks in hopefully not the too distant future.

“His commitment and desire to succeed are one of the main reasons I wanted him to extend his stay and our partnership is a strong one. I firmly believe that we can help the club move on to the next stage in its development,” added Mark.

Club Chair Martyn Cheney exclaimed: “This is great news and allows us to keep the momentum going with an excellent team on the touchline and a dedicated coach in Mark who is fast proving himself as a real winner!

“We are seeing season-ticket sales exceed all expectations and are looking forward to another entertaining season as we prepare to embark on a far reaching community programme of activity. These are exciting times for everyone who follows the Buffaloes!” added Martyn.

The Buffaloes, start their seventh season back in the game with friendlies against Wigan Riversiders on 28th March and South London Storm on 11th April before kicking off in the league with a trip to Hemel Stags on 18th April.

Supported by the RMT, Unison, Co-operative, Resource Print Solutions and marketing consultancy PRomotion, the Buffaloes were formed by supporters as a community owned co-operative after the demise of the original Bramley RL club in 1999. In 2004 the club took their bow in National League Three in front of 1200 supporters and have appeared in the last five consecutive Grand Finals, winning two.

Season-tickets are currently on sale with a free replica playing shirt included in the £50 / £25 cost. Contact Martyn on 07903246337 for more details.
