RFL meeting conclusion. : Wed Aug 11, 2021 7:59 pm
Well it has been decided today that promotion and relegation will remain in place for the end of the 2021 season , meaning Leigh will almost certainly be back in the Championship next year .

I admit I thought relegation would be stopped this year , but we must abide by the rules, I’m not sure what this means for our player recruitment , but we make the best of what we have , and build again .

Ey-up Ian. I'm very surprised by this. I was sure Derek had got the nod that there would be no relegation. They seem to be making it up as they go along. The game is in a reyt old pickle! Hope you're keeping well BTW.

Good to hear from you Pete, I hope both you and Di are well, myself yeah I’m doing ok these days , just getting owd as we all are
I fully intend making the trip to the Shay before the season is over .I see Fax are making a mockery of my prediction and doing very well.

As for ourselves , yeah I’m surprised with this news , I thought Derek had been told we were gonna be exempt from relegation , but we must get on with it now ,and plan for next season , hopefully with Derek at the helm ,I will be there whoever is in charge ,it won’t be the end of the world , we will bounce back ,I really think we need a clear out though.

Looking like an entirely new team & a total reset for 2022 now !
I would expect that recruitment on a Super League level has now stopped.

Most of our squad will be looking elsewhere, especially Bell, Brierley, Sidlow & Sau, with Mason, Thornley, Russell & Hood already reportedly signed to other Super League Club's for 2022 !!!

Will Derek have the heart or the will to throw his cash at another tilt for Super League again ?

I’m hoping Derek stays with the Club , to fight again , the Leyther in you never leaves .As for the players we need a complete new side , I think most realise this , how many of our current squad will find another SL Club to take them .?And even if they are signed up , they could end up loaned back to Championship Clubs next season , if they don’t break into the first team .

Never ever thought that we would be saved from relegation, it just didn't add up that SL clubs would be giving away a bigger percentage of a reduced pot.
It will be interesting what they do next in regards player recriutment for '22, personally speaking ths squad minus Thronily, Russell, Mason and Hood will not be good enough we really do need a clear out, But we can all live in hope, isn't Derek's plan to be in SL in '23 if he wants to acheive that then he will need a good Rugby Manager (still to be named) to identify and entice the correct roster and a coach with proven abillity, no more old pals act as he has done with ex Leigh players with his last 5 coaches, we heed a strong Character outsider, Mr B's loyalty is exemplary but it is a stratergy that has not worked previously time he learned from history.

Believe Stuart Littler is 4/6 with Fred

So who would you appoint. The list of names put up for the new Wakefield coach is hardly inspiring.

Our rosta will be decided by whether we are full or part time

Has there been an “official” confirmation yet by the RFL/SL organizations ?
