First game was in 1967, and have been hooked since day 1. Now live in Vancouver, Canada but follow our team any way I can.

There was no way that Warrington could win – so they did. Only Budgers went for that and possibly out of sheer contrariness. No matter, 50 points to him and a big fat zilch for the rest of us.

A less surprising win in the 1895 Cup Final, but there were still only three scorers: 50 ponts to Zools, 36 to Bongser and 30 to EVVO-come-lately. WWBs of a further 50 points to each of Budge & Zools.

So we have a Brasso Swilling Cup Challenge Champion. Well Done Vancouver Leyther! Btw you also had a belting weekend when we played Widnes. More later.

RANKINGS:

Vanners – 772
Zools -731
Chazzer – 677
EVVO – 691
Bongser – 662
Atomic – 637
Chayders – 625
Pubbers – 598
Wanderer – 581
Budge – 164

This would have been posted earlier but for the heroics at Headingley. Bongser had to watch the last wicket partnership highlights repeatedly due to his dewy-eyedness. His late father loved Test Cricket and would have revelled in that victory.

He also taught Bongser to love BWFC. Today could see its ultimate demise – but this is a week in which the impossible is possible. May it continue. Good luck to Bury FC as well.

Here is some music:

Thanks Bongser. It just goes to show that anything can happen in cup games, hence blind luck and poor judgment somehow won out. The Brasso is warming on the stove.
The cricket was amazing to watch and I have also watch highlights more than once.
As for BWFC, Burnden Park was the first place I ever saw a live professional football game. My now departed Uncle Eddy was a devout fan and would take me several times a year for several years. The first game was most likely in 1972 but I'm not 100% sure on that. Sam Allardyce and then later Frankie Worthington being my favourite players. I am really pulling for Bolton to rise again

Now bring on York

Bolton back in business. Maybe it was Bongser’s choice of music, maybe it was the ghost of your Uncle Eddie (if his surname was Davies). There’s a third fellah on here that will also be mightily relieved.

Funnily enough Bongser’s first three (Association) footy matches were also in the ’72-’73 season at Burnden. A former customer of your correspondent, the late Jimmy Armfield was at the helm, skipper was Warwick Rimmer and Charlie Wright was between the sticks. Two draws against Cardiff and Hull and then the end of season Third Division Championship clincher. Stuart Lee (who IBRC had bagged a hat-trick the match before) scored another two with Peter Nicholson scoring the other. Bongser, some years later, shared a few pints with PN as we watched BWFC play on a big screen in a pub in South Mcr – the only two Bolton fans in there – Peter was by that point working as a chippy in Northenden but still had the odd kick-about with Reidy and Fun-Time Franky W).

That winning 3-0 last game of the season was over York City which steers this thread nicely back onto our last regular season home game against York City Knights.

I’m not a football fan , maybe watched around 8 matches live, but the Greatest goal I have ever seen was scored by Frank Worthington,he had his back to the opposition goal , a few kicks, one over his head and hits a volley into the net Classic, don’t know who it was against .
