LISA Needs YOU! : Tue Jul 01, 2014 3:00 pm
LISA look to increase Membership Numbers

LISA is an acronym for Leigh Independent Supporters Association and, as the name suggests, is an independent group for supporters of Leigh Centurions.

Over the last 14 years the main goal of LISA has been to help finance new players to the Club, which is mainly achieved by members' voluntary contributions.

Through the generous contributions of LISA members and support by Leigh fans in general many great players have graced the LSV and Hilton Park beforehand that would not normally have been signed.

With all aspects of the Club, on and off the pitch, going from strength to strength and the team riding high currently unbeaten at the top of the Kingstone Press Championship table, there is a temptation for people to rest on their laurels. But the reality is that a bigger membership will help the Club to reach the next level as it pushes towards realising its ambition of a place in Super League.

Speaking on behalf of LISA Lynda Pike said: "As a committee we are currently in discussions with the Club to identify ways of adding value to existing and new members. It is our goal to drive the organisation forward as in recent years we have sadly lost some of our older members.

"We will be announcing our next meeting in due course and I'm working with Club Director Andy Mazey in relation to forthcoming events where we intend to have a presence and actively campaign for new members.

"If you are a supporter and not currently a LISA Member please consider joining, as your contributions really do make a difference and go directly towards the playing budget. This means you contribute where it matters most from a fans' perspective. Remember as well as other benefits LISA members get extra discount on away coach travel."

On behalf of Leigh Centurions Director Andy Mazey said: "As a Board we recognise the importance of this fantastic organisation, not just historically but even more so moving forward as part of the long-term strategic planning.

"The vision and ethos of everyone associated with this Club is no longer just to consolidate, but to grow every aspect of the Club to be the very best it can be.

"It's great to see Lynda, Keith and the rest of the great people at LISA not just buying into the Club's ethos but looking to take the bull by the horns and drive the organisation forward.

"In simple terms the more members LISA can attract the more finance available to the Club. Funds raised go directly into the playing budget for
2015 and beyond when we will be a full-time professional club with high hopes and aspirations."

Re: LISA Needs YOU! : Thu Jul 17, 2014 10:56 am
For the usual annual investment LISA as normal will fund the contract of a player of choice which hopefully will be the next new signing that we secure.

In addition to this and as an incentive to gain more members and raise more funds for every 6k over and above the usual annual figure LISA can raise the board will match the funding with 6k of our own and promote an already part time contracted U20s player of LISA choice to the FT first team environment and squad. Paul and Derek will put forward the list of candidates who they would like to bring in to the first team FT squad and in confidence give the reasons why so LISA members subject to the funds being raised can play a vital role in the promotion and further development of the clubs young players in addition to what they already do.

It was great to see a full room last night and there seemed to be a real interest in helping Lynda and the committee really move things forward at pace with many new faces taking forms away and some new members even signing up on the night. Talking to a few members after the meeting there seemed a real willingness to help and get involved in fund raising events and I have a good feeling that the next 12 months will really see LISA kick on to even greater things.

For those that aren't aware every single penny of LISA money goes directly to the playing budget and to a playing contract so no better way for anyone wishing to do that little bit extra to make a direct impact in the on field success of the club they love.

Thanks to Lynda, Keith, Peter and Gina for welcoming us and thanks to all who attended for making it an enjoyable evening.

Anyone readying this please join LISA and get behind the guys as "We are all in this together" remember and unlike in the past when the money has saved the club LISA money can now develop the club and play a part I'm taking it to the next level.

Quoted by Andy Mazey after last nights meeting.

ALSO importantly , you can up your membership if an exsisting member, this will also count.

Thanks Lynda

Any meetings sorted ?

How do we get on board as a LISA member, by that I mean, can you do direct debit at say £10 p/m or is it an upfront set amount ?

I really want to help the Club as much as possible to achieve all of our dreams, but find the web page a little 'lacking'.

Please, more info.
