LISA look to increase Membership Numbers
LISA is an acronym for Leigh Independent Supporters Association and, as the name suggests, is an independent group for supporters of Leigh Centurions. Over the last 14 years the main goal of LISA has been to help finance new players to the Club, which is mainly achieved by members' voluntary contributions. Through the generous contributions of LISA members and support by Leigh fans in general many great players have graced the LSV and Hilton Park beforehand that would not normally have been signed. With all aspects of the Club, on and off the pitch, going from strength to strength and the team riding high currently unbeaten at the top of the Kingstone Press Championship table, there is a temptation for people to rest on their laurels. But the reality is that a bigger membership will help the Club to reach the next level as it pushes towards realising its ambition of a place in Super League. Speaking on behalf of LISA Lynda Pike said: "As a committee we are currently in discussions with the Club to identify ways of adding value to existing and new members. It is our goal to drive the organisation forward as in recent years we have sadly lost some of our older members. "We will be announcing our next meeting in due course and I'm working with Club Director Andy Mazey in relation to forthcoming events where we intend to have a presence and actively campaign for new members. "If you are a supporter and not currently a LISA Member please consider joining, as your contributions really do make a difference and go directly towards the playing budget. This means you contribute where it matters most from a fans' perspective. Remember as well as other benefits LISA members get extra discount on away coach travel." On behalf of Leigh Centurions Director Andy Mazey said: "As a Board we recognise the importance of this fantastic organisation, not just historically but even more so moving forward as part of the long-term strategic planning. "The vision and ethos of everyone associated with this Club is no longer just to consolidate, but to grow every aspect of the Club to be the very best it can be. "It's great to see Lynda, Keith and the rest of the great people at LISA not just buying into the Club's ethos but looking to take the bull by the horns and drive the organisation forward. "In simple terms the more members LISA can attract the more finance available to the Club. Funds raised go directly into the playing budget for 2015 and beyond when we will be a full-time professional club with high hopes and aspirations."
