'New' RFL ideas on Academys (or should that be Academies?) : Wed Mar 25, 2009 11:49 am
Well I see the RFL have issued ANOTHER edict on clubs reserve teams and academys, they are now going to do away with the reserves and make it an under 20's league, also signing players now wont take place until they are 17 and not 16.Dual registrations will be allowed so that SLE clubs can get their players experience in the national leagues, so all in all its what Leigh and them next door were going to do earlier on this season (initially with the blessing of the RFL) but then the RFL pulled the plug on it.
Don't know what will happen to the u 18's academys but in a LISA meeting a few months ago didnt NK keep refering to the jnr academys as u 17's? which I thought was perhaps a 'slip of the tongue' at the time.
It would appear that all this came from last times SLE clubs meeting, my question would be 'Have the NL clubs had an input into the 'decision'?'
So welcome folks to the
'Cooperative Championship feeder to SLE leagues'
Is it the beggining of the end, or a whole new start?
