Having thought about this for a week after the disappointment of the Fax display, I don't think Leigh as a club wanted to go up this year. It was always a 2 year plan for promotion. They are nowhere near ready as a SL team. Next season is the year they will build a team that is ready for SL. Far better to build it in the Championship than get promotion with a team that isn't ready, get hammered every week and come straight back down. 2016 is the season they will push for promotion.
I'm sure you feel much better about your abject displays in the qualifiers now you have convinced yourself about that.
I think the abject display was confirmed in game 2 Salford. No disrespect to you,but you were always chasing the game and had other things on your mind.
Salford game for me was the one that highlighted the weakness and sent a clear message back, that we aren't going to SL with our current set-up.
However I still think we were still going for SL,regardless of the 2 year plan.
Would have made signings some what easier had we gone up,now we are back to enticing players from SL to Championship again, which hopefully will unfold in the coming weeks as we do hit year 2 of the plan..
We are still very much on the ride, and it hasn't stopped yet.

Of course we wanted to go up this year, yes it's always been a two year plan with the aim for this year being do better than last year but had we won promotion the extra £1,000,000 central funding, extra attendance, TV money, sponsorship and publicity would have come in very handy for improving next year. If we'd have gone up we wouldn't have come straight back down, might have been hammered most weeks but The Qualifiers are still in the favour of the Super League Club.
I've just been on the Fax message board to see what mi owd mucker Halifaxjohn is up to, the Fax fans are creaming themselves about their latest signing,Simon Grix now I'm no Doctor , but this lad has spent more time in hospital than an extra for Holby City, my legs look great compared to his and I've had BOTH my hips replaced, they are trying to sell next year's seasons tickets on his signing we will have Greg Florimos Bootees ,on here next telling us to be afraid. .

Couldn't agree more LS.
I just don't buy into the "always a two year plan" nonsense.
If you have a crack at SL, you take it, as you don't know if you will ever have success again.
Had we made the £million game & won, everyone inc the Club would have said they always targeted it/knew it, etc, & your spot on LS, all of those things, the extra £1m Sky money, bigger & better Sponsorship *& a lot more of it*, attendances etc, their would always be around 6 players out & 6 new signings. Take into account the pull of SL status & signing quality becomes significantly easier.
Leigh would not take 'all' of this team into SL & neither should they *academic now though it is*.

Academic for some..For me we have 12 months to go and I doubt we will keep most of the team now.

The move was to create room on their salary cap, he was never going to play and has just had an op to remove the steel plate that was causing him grief while running. He will be fully fit for the start of the season.
Cracking signing if we can get him on the pitch. As for Leigh fans being worried about us next year, if we beat Bradford on Saturday we likely finish this season above Leigh, who would have though that?
