No I was bored senseless, even when we almost came back to knick it. But I'll put on the shirt next time and take my usual spot, surrounded by loads of moaning Leythers who seem to think they have a devine right too see 13 men in Cherry and White win by 40 points every week playing Harlem Globetrotter stuff.
Meanwhile back on planet earth I can see the bigger picture.
I reckon we'll do well to finish above 5th this year personally, I was gearing up for 6th with the thought on progression next year and top 4.
Lets face it in this league 10 wins will get you play-off rugby.
12-15 wins will get top 4.
16+ wins will get top spot.
It's competitive isn't it? There are some good players and teams. And the beauty is yes every team has weaknesses, its not like Super League where everyone plays the same. I see McNally at Haven for example virtually beat Fev on his own today!
I've seen Fev, Halifax, Widnes, Gateshead, Sheffield, Toulouse, Whitehaven, Batley and Leigh. In fact the only teams I've not yet seen in action this season are Barrow and Doncaster.
While home form is crucial, its also about how many wins on the road and bonus points too.
It won't apply in SL either when Salford open the doors on their new stadium (and neither will it in Halifax when we complete the East stand). A good challenge cup run, an NR Cup and a GF appearance may make it so though - for either club.[/quote]
Not something we need to worry too much about this year
You or Widnes yes us no chance , unless a big change of attitude to ' how ' we play happens , if it doesn't then I really do fear for our future
Funnily enough, we are all complaining our pack is too small and lacks power too. It certainly was a problem against Fax. Whilst I'd be disappointed if we don't win on Good Friday, i wouldn't be quite as pessimistic as you seem to be. Batley are good enough to upset a few teams this year.
Mind you, Durbin will have to have improved 100% since he left us to save you.
Well, I dont feel as annoyed as I did a couple of hours ago.
Couple of points.
Every try came down our right, or from a break down there. We didnt just have kids there, we had experienced players. Must do better. Much better. It was embarrassing.
We do not have a devine right to beat 'the likes of' Batley at home with our current squad. Get used to it. Those days are long gone. In fairness, I wasnt of that opinion at half time, I was fuming.
Our pack will end up battered and bruised playing one man rugby. Its not big enough, nor tough enough. Hobson can only lead so much. We have some decent power there, but not enough for a slugfest week in week out.
The attendance.......feelgood factor? Millions of miles away. People will not pay £14-£16 to watch that, or persevere with it until the lads grow up.
Martin Ridyard CAN do better. Give him a break. He is going to get targetted and needs to build on his confidence as much as anything because I believe the raw talent is there (apart from not being able to pass to his right quickly enough).
This should be our one and only wake up call because overall, it wasn't good enough from top to bottom.
Batley actually played some bloody good rugby and fully deserved the win.
I agree with you. Our right wing was targetted at Sheffield too. I,m sure NK can see it too.
I,d also like to mention the penalties we give away ,which apparently the coaching staff and the playing staff discussed after the Sheffield game.
To give penalties away when we have the ball is plain daft.Maybe the players concerned should watch Fred,s DVD of the game. Infact they all should to see what we speccies thought of their performance.
It,s rare I don,t clap them off at the end of a game but I couldn,t yesterday.

NK has gone on record saying we were 'out-enthused'....and that pee's me off more than anything. We make lack certain skills, certain power, make mistakes but to be 'out-enthused' is simply not acceptable.
That display was pure rubbish its ok signing good young players
if they are Div 1 level but some of our signings this year are knowhere
near that level at this present time We need to invest heavy in a couple of
class players in the main positions centre --half back plus a line breaking forward if we are to bring these young players through Ridyard and several others just are,nt good enough at this present time and to be honest the crowds are,nt going to come back with the this team set up
at Leigh Things got a liitle better yesterday with the introduction of Durbin
it speeded things up and made Watson who in the second half was the stand out player on the field speed his game up resultin in a better performance ... We have injurys and missing players and hopefully with the intro of a couple of new signings things will improve dramaticly but we are a long way off yet with forwards who could,nt break a line of jelly babies never mind a line of oppossing defenders

Agreed. Defeat is acceptable when it's obvious the players have bust a gut (Fev away, for example) but the main reason that we got battered down the middle was because their pack had more enthusiasm than ours.

If i was "out-enthused" at work i have no doubt that i'd be out on my ass in no time but our un-enthused Leigh players will still be playing all season no matter what.......And isnt it NK's job to get them "enthused"?????
