I do think it's time for a new coach - a brand new coach, not one who's already here.
But to answer your question, a coach should
always have total control of his players and have confidence that the board will back him rather than the players - so no IMO, if the players won't play for the coach then they should be shown the door. A coach is the boss, full stop, if the players don't like it then they should leave.
That's just for the players though - once the speccies and board have lost confidence in the coach then he should be gone - end of!
