Technically, at the moment they have all gone. Unless contracts were in place and signed after yesterdays game. This happened to us last year and fortunately nearly all the players who the club wanted to keep stayed. Hope yours do the same as it does not seem right to add insult to injury and circle like vultures. Keep the players who want to stay and build on it with the right kind of player and I am sure you will be in the mix next year. Who knows what the RFL /SL decide on the league format in the future but I am confident expansion will be on the horizon.

As an aside how can it be right that you can have a promotion/relegation system when not once has the best and worst teams from their respective divisions swapped places? Stinks in my opinion, thought that last year and nothing has changed my mind.

Amen to that!

But what about the promise of drama, more exposure for the game, the extra support and additional revenue from fans and sponsors -- for an 8 week period. The highs, the lows, the grown men crying while being interviewed live on TV...

Probably best to go with your idea, scrap the 8's and have a rethink.

Aye.... we could (And may well) go back to licencing.
Then you're stuck down here in the sludge for ten years min...
Cos Toronto Toulouse and northern will be in front of our two clubs when licences are being issued....
The system works. You went up cos you were strong enough in that system.
You went down cos you weren't. Every system has it's flaws. You play to it's strengths

And you also believe bankers, pharmaceuticals and Zuckerberg are working for the greater good as well? Narcissist > Elite > Control > Profit. The elite always get what they want, exactly when they want it.

And yeah, I'm sure we'd be fine with licensing, as a robust and transparent business plan would be submitted that nobody could deny. Facilities, infrastructure, history, performance, fans, finance, it's all there ready. Umh, need an experienced coach though.

Out of curiosity, I know he didnt play yesterday, but how has Mortimer gone fot you guys.

I think his Dad was one of three brothers who played in the 70s and 80s, and one played for us for a season about 1989-90. Was at the end of his career, but was class.

I really hope we had a decent list of players as surely for some time its clear on who is up to the task and who is not at Leigh.
Ideally I'd like us to keep our younger players but after that I'm afraid we need to recruit better as in effect we have gone down in what is probably a fairly poor SL and lest us forget we've been on the wrong side of some 50/50's which never evened out so could have stayed up!
Relegation based on the way we was heading (signing old Australians/ playing structured RL) may be the best thing that happened.
Ideally we need to get a good mix of youth and experience and play the way we are used to seeing at Leigh which is an expansive style not the safety first repeat drives followed by a long kick we have had to revert to far too often this season.
We have lost our way imho and regrouping and getting a few youth structures lined up (so we are not prone to just signing cast offs from other clubs should we get injuries)might be whats needed.
When we go back up I want us strong right across the park, we started off strong in SL and after a few tough calls and injuries we lost our way, this may give us the chance to get it right long term.
Key decisions on coaching staff and playing personal are needed with a view to long term.

Very difficult balance for me, we haven't really got long term without the stability of SL, unless we invest in youth then don't have the initial availability to reach the promised land

Seems he’s been in some very dark places this last 12 months - the last month or so being the worst for him.

Hope he is mentally ok.

No Goodwin, no Hampshire - who’s next?

Most of the players on Peter list had already been told they would not be here next year regardless of which division we were playing in. Some of their own choosing, Drinkwater had already informed the club he and his partner would be more than likely be returning home to Australia at the end of the year.

Daniel Mortimer will be in big demand, but it will require a huge fee from another SL club to snare him away from Leigh. I think he will stay and give us 12 months but the dust of the 2017 season is yet to settle.

Hi Harold.

Of the names listed, I'm not overly disappointed at the ones being quoted as departing - except Mortimer and Goodwin maybe. I'd thank them for their efforts in our colours and look forward to 'better' signings for next season. Speaking of Mortimer (and Goodwin for that matter) how do we get a fee when all contracts are supposedly void? (or were they not solely SL contracts?)
