Well I see the RFL have issued ANOTHER edict on clubs reserve teams and academys, they are now going to do away with the reserves and make it an under 20's league, also signing players now wont take place until they are 17 and not 16.Dual registrations will be allowed so that SLE clubs can get their players experience in the national leagues, so all in all its what Leigh and them next door were going to do earlier on this season (initially with the blessing of the RFL) but then the RFL pulled the plug on it.
Don't know what will happen to the u 18's academys but in a LISA meeting a few months ago didnt NK keep refering to the jnr academys as u 17's? which I thought was perhaps a 'slip of the tongue' at the time.
It would appear that all this came from last times SLE clubs meeting, my question would be 'Have the NL clubs had an input into the 'decision'?'

So welcome folks to the
'Cooperative Championship feeder to SLE leagues'

Is it the beggining of the end, or a whole new start?

Mmmmm so we get to train the kids up then when they get to a good level take them from us then we can do it all again. IMHO I dont think it will work, if we got 7 quality kids and have them taken from us in one time that leaves holes in our team and other teams as well. Doesnt work that well in football so how will it work in Rugby League?

No it isn't its what we are allowed to make of it, the SL clubs will always get the 'gravy' players thats understood, bu if we are to at least get some 'OXO' players then let it be for a longer period.
In all this there is still no news re giving the Amaeur clubs more moneyb to allow the rising stars up to 17 to flourish in a good atmosphere we are lucky most clubs in this area have good facilities but some elsewhere beggar belief.

That is exactly what the rfl and super league clubs want.

I reckon they are angling towards a system that mirrors the one used in oz, where we will essentially be the equivalent of Newtown/North Sydney etc... Basically, Wigan's reserve grade.

Dont tell me its taken until 2009 for you to realise this

Its up to us where we end up in the mix, a feeder club playing on the Harriers or a SL club playing out of LSV.

Its about money and management, we need to find both.
Its about vision and the right attitude, we need to find both.

Its in our hands

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Much as I want Leigh to produce it's own players it is not the most pressing thing the club needs to concentrate on at this moment

So if we end up helping our neighbours to improve thier juniors so be it , as long as we benifit both financially and with use of thier cast offs , then so be it

So is it the begining of the end ? No

Or a new start ? no

It is just what it is , this years good idea

The club should work alongside the Warriors, as they can only benefit.

I agree Dave, I know its against a lot of peoples principles but what they have works and if it benefits Leigh at no cost it can only be good for our club.
