Matthew Shaw is reporting on Yorkshire Live that we are close to securing Jacob Gannon for 2023. The report says he a 20 yr old prop from Warrington, who has recently been on loan with Bradford. Anyone got any knowledge on him as I don’t know anything about him outside of the info in the press release which suggests he is a strong future prospect.

Dont know about this lad but noted dire signed two young uns from Miners, always galling

Most of the Bradford pack have been eating all the pies, young Jacob appears to have been late to the dinner table. Not really established a regular starting role at either York or Bradford

I think it's interesting that we're rumoured to be signing a player who is clearly highly regarded, but is surely a development prospect for the medium to long term.

I think it would be a clear demonstration that we're building for the future and not just the short term, which is a very encouraging sign after the last decade or two of short-termism,

Exactly my thoughts Mick. Building for the future but also a sign that we are looking to build a larger/deeper squad for SL than we have had in previous seasons in SL, and building it on our terms, not from the slim pickings left once things are certain.
Derek has to be commended for backing our 2023 team, without a guarantee of promotion.

He was highly thought of coming through Leeds scholarship, turned down our Academy offer to join Warrington, England youth player, was always a 13 at Leeds, bit of skill about him.

Thanks for that matts, sounds like a sound investment for the future and with his age now, he may just stake a claim in the not too distant future, if indeed we do complete on this report.
