I don't recall either Bobby Charlton, or Rod Stewart, playing in a football match at Wilderspool.

I was at that charity match at Wilderspool...When I read Rod Stewart was down to play I didn't think he'd turn up but he did and he was a very good footballer. His hero was Denis Law and he copied all of Law's mannerisms, favourite being the one arm salute when he scored. Bobby Charlton definitely wasn't there unless he was sat inthe stands but I never saw him

I'm 99% certain Bobby Charlton was there playing. I remember being blown away by the speed of his long range shots in real time. I heard he lived at Lymm at the time.
As for Rod, despite his allegiance, he's about as Scottish as me, which is not much.

Rod Stewart was born and raised in north London, he'd like to be Scottish but he isn't.

His dad was Scottish, and although his mum was English, they lived in Scotland. Rod's four siblings were born in Scotland before the family moved to London, where Rod was born. I'm no fan of the man or his music, but I think his Scottish allegiance is quite understandable.

Na disagree you can't change where you were born..ask Robbie and Henry Paul...
