The 28-year-old has found form hard to come by in previous years after signing a four-and-a-half-year deal with Parramatta midway through the 2019 season.

That sounds familiar, and further down it mentions no other NRL club interested, so I hope it’s not us based on that.

Would be an upgrade on matautia, but I wouldnt like us to be offering him a huge contract.

Yeah a possibility but he'd have to take a BIG pay cut as he's not worth a Marquee wage so i doubt it, but you never know.

Well we’ve already made the mistake of one overpaid Blake. To repeat that would be corporate negligence. Although Powell does seem to be able to get the best out of players somehow.

I’d rather we took a punt on a cheaper young NSW or QLD cup star though. Maybe one who can’t quite breakthrough at a NRL club because they’re kept out of the team by a star centre. Someone in the mould of Jai Field, Duffy etc. Raw pace and footwork.

I was thinking about this the other day. Young hungry Aussies that can’t quite get the break through seem like ideal signings… but isn’t there work permit issues with them?

Possibly. How did we get Magoulias? Had he played any first team games for Cronulla?

EDIT: Shame Mags didn’t get his chance this season instead of last. His ball-playing skills and kicking could have been a sensation this season.

I meant to partner Wrench. Ratchford will probably be a bit part player as utility back up, with Mata’utia gone home. No way I’d let go of Wrench. He’s looked every bit the star in the making.
