Initially I though this may have been the result of yet another mutation down the road in St Helens.

Having watched the video he looks like a possible replacement for Mamo. Some wing and fullback cover, I'm sure Powell knows what he is doing.

The acid test for any signing should be whether you can imagine yourself standing on the terraces shouting encouragement to the prospective signing.

Personally, I can barely say "GO ON LACHLAN!!" let alone scream it from the terraces. Mind, I have imbibed a couple of Harvey's already.

The same applies to people with double barrelled names. By the time I'd got my mouth round a roar of encouragement they'd probably have knocked on.

I'm sure you could manage a double barrelled insult at Mc Carthy Scarsbrook.

What about if there was some posh toff called Gregory Drummond-Boyd who signed for Wire, would you be willing to chant the name?

Only Leeds mention this guy on their rumour thread, nothing on Wigan or Saints boards.

Disappointing we haven’t announced a replacement for Lineham as of yet and the future remains unclear for Ashton too.

Yeah i wonder if we are debating re-signing him, but sure a one year deal at least would be good. Showing loads of potential and is deadly at times. It's only injuries that have stifled his progression really, Ashton outside of King looks very good IMO.

We need to sign another winger for next season IMO, if Ashton is going as well then maybe 2 with one of those a utility back to offer more cover. The squad for next season looks very thin to me, injury problems could hit us hard if we don't get the recruitment right. There are still question marks over a few of our other players being around next season too such as Darryl.

I can hear the phrase "transition year" being loaded and ready to fire by the club. I know it's possibly a little early but we may have quite a lot of squad numbers to fill and the right players arent likely to be available if we leave it late. I hope Powell has a few aces up his sleeve, Tom Johnstone would be nice.

Our chairman has out rightly stated we have rejected offers in excess of 150k from 2 super league clubs for Tom, I would say paying any fee for him at this moment would be a big risk given his injury record, let alone a fee that tops that, I think he will sign a new Wakefield deal shortly but I think if he has a good year in 22 he will try and test himself in the NRL from 2023.

Turning down that money represents a pretty big risk I would say. I agree it's a risky signing with his injury record but he's certainly a very, very good winger. Has there been interest from the NRL? I would look at Ryan Hall not playing over there and skip it if I were him. Superleague backs seem to find opportunities limited over in the NRL, I'm not sure why, some really good players have gone over to give it a go. There are exceptions of course.

Heading reports that we have signed Greg Minkin…
