A mistake laden but compelling contest in my view. Never knew what was going to happen next. Harsh to criticise the players on such a short turn around.
Charnley has reverted to boogering around in the tackle which really annoys me. Toby King still some way off his best.
I’m not sure what the call should have been on the Charnley 2 nd try. My gut feeling was he didn’t ground the ball, BUT that Dwyer stole the ball in the tackle with more than one player involved. I suspect that would then have been a penalty try but Sky were noticeably shy about that issue!
The Newman try was class, but perhaps a little early to deify him.
Akouala putting in his usual stint…
Cooper put in a real shift and Ratchford showing again that full back is his natural position. Danny Walker could and probably should have been brought on earlier.
A win without really clicking.
I still think this is the game for me!

No, you can steal the ball in the tackle over the try line. However I think Dwyer then went into touch so it would have been Wire ball.

And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,
Fly away, Far away,
Far from pain....

Sorry of course it is my opinion. But why oh why do you keep watching if it is giving you no pleasure? There are other things to do. Stop watching, stop moaning on this forum there is new world out there for you.

It's probably a lifetime, emotional connection to the club, same that goes for why most sports fans follow their teams through thick and thin, that keeps me watching. Certainly, if last night's game hadn't involved Wire, I'd have switched off about 20 minutes in.

Like I say, if you find mistake-athons entertaining, then fill your boots, I just find it a frustrating and, eventually, tedious watch. Yes, I know sport is unpredictable and not every game can, or will be, a classic, but I think too many RL games are now error strewn affairs and badly officiated, and that can't be good for the long term future of the game.

Really?... that's an odd rule then. So Dwyer could have ran the length of the field and scored last night, but another yard down field and it would be a penalty to Wire??

Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.

Thanks RG, at the back of my mind I thought there was something “special” about the in goal area but I couldn’t remember.

Did you play much? Cos I reckon those who played or coached tend to have a bit more sympathy ... everybody who has played has dropped the ball and missed a tackle even when they are trying like hell ... unless of course you are Garry Schofield.

I believe the correct restart would be a penalty to the attacking team if it was deemed a ball steal? But as you mention, the penalty try awarded for a ball steal was dropped some time ago.

Yeah that's right.

It happened right in front of us and in real time you give a try everyday of the week. Hence it goes up to the video ref as a try. Rules are the video ref then has to have conclusive proof that it wasn't a try to overturn the decision. I watched it back last night and there is no conclusive proof as the ball disappears from sight with players falling down on it. Even now on balance having seen it live and then on video I'd say its likely to have been grounded in the initial dropping to the deck. Just because Dwyer gets up with ball in his hands means nothing.

I'm on a tour of the Portugese Sherry Vineyards at the moment to top up supplies which took a hammering during the cup semi, so I had to listen in on GMR.

First off, great two points and nice to see Williams get the winning kick - he's done us to death a few times with his boot so nice to be on the right side.

However, the team is really making it hard for themselves. Yes, mitigating circumstances last night with a short turnaround but our first half completion rate in the first half of the Wigan game was equally poor.

We need to establish a platform before we start offload-a-thons and risky passes though with the talent in that team, when it comes off they look great. Powell will be salivating.

I think the 3 weeks away from the training field will have as big an impact as the short turnaround.
