To be fair to RD, anyone who has suffered from covid who has been ill badly through this would agree with him. A lot of people many months after having covid, their health has been not the same, although athletes should be fitter it has affected people very differently. To many on here jump on his back for some comments agreed, but this is not one of them. I for one would think playing Wigan after a two week lay off being people suffering covid, could massively affect the score, those who have been ill badly through would agree

How many athletes suffer to that extent though? Most don't even know they've had it, added to those that are isolating as they're a close contact.

I'm not disputing the devastating effects it can have, mainly on the elderly. I almost lost a close family member last year so I know all to well the damage it can cause.

Which puzzlers me more why you question the match health/condition of the players that caught c-19 ahead of a game vs the arch enemy. :GUITAR:

Ultimately we won't know the condition they are in, only themselves and the club's medical staff will know that. They'll know if they're in a condition to play or not.

The point I'm making is that most (not all) young, healthy, fit, especially professional athletes will not suffer from it. Like I said, a lot of people don't even know they have it

Very true, the reason I addressed RD is thats lazy speculation, and is how rubbish rumours get started.

I had 3 texts in the afternoon after he posted that "is it true x player is out for the season? I've heard they've got long covid"

If you believe anything RD posts, you're probably the same sort of person who thinks Bill Gates is putting a microchip in your head!

Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.

Wish he’d get a move on I’m rubbish at decision making.

RL players will be more susceptible to small margins that affect their lung capacity and general cardio fitness, than the general population. It's like the average non athlete with a desk job could have a hamstring strain and be back at work the next day whereas for a RL player that might be multiple weeks out.

In the NFL last year there were a number of players who had covid, just missed a game or two and then came back, but were significantly below par for the rest of the season: Cam Newton, Miles Garrett had a noticeable difference in the before/after covid, Zeke Elliot had covid in the off season and had an unusual down year. Ryquelle Armstead had covid before the season and was hospitalised twice, he ended up missing the full season and was cut. He got picked up by another team who released him a few weeks later, so who knows if his career is done at age 24.

If you were a Super League conditioner and charged with putting out a team that can run hard for 80 minutes, then you wouldn't want to expose the players to a disease that can lead to damaged lungs.

They get oxygen after each ten second stint in that game, they should be able to cope.
