I’d rather keep GI and get rid of Austin. GI will be a bigger influence around the dressing room and coaching the younger lads. Also I doubt removing his salary will free up much cash.

I’m still not sure how Inglis leaving can enable Williams to join. There isn’t a rule that enables us to get around the cap issue.

As LTS said, Austin finding a contact in SL with another club is what will enable us to sign Williams and also best for the team overall (I also like the idea of GI working with the younger players). Or Widdop leaving to the NRL, which not many of us would actually like.

He wasn't fit when the season started, he wasn't fit when he got injured and he won't be fit when, or if, he ever returns.

If he wants to stick around and do some coaching then great, but I really hope we don't try and make a place in the starting thirteen for a 70% fit Inglis - I'd rather Mamo keep his place.

Spot on. I think his injury was probably a blessing in disguise, as it got us out of the embarrassing situation of either having a clearly unfit player taking up a place in the side, or having to drop him. I'd have loved to see a fully fit Inglis in the side, but he looked so far short of full fitness, it was never going to happen.

This was always going to be a high risk signing, Inglis has given it a go to come out of retirement, I hope he gets another shot to show he is fit even if it just leads to him getting a season in the NRL next year.

Can't wait for Lefty's reply.

No NRL club will touch him..he's unfit and now picking picking up injuries...sadly it's the end of a great player..

I’d interpreted Sally’s NRL comment as a bit of sarcasm. I don’t think he really expects Inglis to be turning out in the NRL. However, he does have a huge role to play in helping out with player development being a GOAT.

At least we got to see him for a couple of games. Never got to see the Goanna though. Although some of our performances have been Guano.

No I think Inglis would have a shot at an NRL contract if he played games over here and looked like he was trending in the right direction. He has a big reputation over there and he would provide presence in the dressing room and be a big name to attract media attention, so if he was reasonable about wage demands he would get something.

He's not too old - Langer went back to Aus at this age after a spell with Warrington - its just his fitness/injury status. And also whether he feels its worth putting his body through another year of being bashed about by younger guys.
