That's a fair point.

The closer analogy may then be Kevin Penny, who also had a few injury problems. In the tale of what could have been with Kevin, everyone usually focuses on him being dropped by Cullen and not in favour with TS as a reason for derailing his career, but injuries get underrated as they seemed to take away his edge of pace. In his first 2 years his pace had real shock value, after that he was quick but not express (eg more Hicks/Riley than Henare/Appo)

If there was a real weakness causing the injuries you would think they would have come to light when playing “bush” rugby or even at Swinton where some old timers are still inclined to get stuck into a cocky upstart.
