By the way, the Muppetry insinuation was aimed at the RFL, who sanctioned the thing in the first place. I'd've thought that was quite obvious.

It's always fascinating, when events go awry, how many fans lay the blame for things squarely with the RFL or SL whilst absolving club adminstrations for the business decisions that they choose.

This (Leigh or any other team's situation) was ALWAYS going to happen.
Let's not Bury heads in sand, and pretend otherwise.
Obviously Toronto's failures trigger this off (but did the RFL/SL keep a proper eye on a club that had previously been letting fans in gratis?), however the buck stops with the RFL/SL.

Business decisions are based on the business. RFL and SL decisions are based on the sport. Rightly or wrongly the rules, laws of the game are quite clear. How you interpret those are also clear.

This is a scenario that should never have existed or implemented in our game. But it has and now we Leigh have to deal with that.

Exactly.
In two months time, Leigh will have zero points (2, IF they're very lucky) and be leaking points like a sieve. Bar a masochist, what Leigh fan is going to shell out £30 of their hard earned, to watch a mismatch, when COVID restrictions are lifted?

There was no need to promote anyone to this season's comp.

The 5 or 6 that applied in October/November, (including Toronto... with a better plan) could've put forward better cases for inclusion in SL 2022.. That process could've been decided on, around about now, so that team could prepare PROPERLY for 2022, and not had a team that was assembled around an emergency meeting in a board room

In that case I guess you're no advocate of P & R either, as the ability of a promoted team, even with sufficient time to plan for a campaign, seems rather at odds with their historic ability to retain their SL status.

There has never been sufficient time for a team promoted. Other than if your French.

YES. I am an advocate of promotion and relegation.
Leigh weren't promoted, this season. They were "fast tracked", and as has been proved, they (and any other team put in the same situation, last year) were out of their depth.
Teams with a historic inability to retain their elite status is simply a fact of life. I dare say in 12 months time, the same fate AGAIN will trouble Norwich and Watford in the Premier League, as it has over the past decade. Its up to them to recruit better

Leigh should not have been put in this situation. They gave it a go (who wouldn't), but even Derek Beaumont knew it was doomed.
A bit like a 1970's Arthur Mullard (after he hadn't washed for a week) going on a blind date with one of Charlie's Angels, pinching her Aris, and expecting the date to go any further.
