I find it quite amusing, no very amusing, that people are urging us to throw money at a player most dismissed two years ago as not being good enough, can't time a pass, no pace, never puts his winger away etc. etc.

I hope we keep Toby, he is still improving but if he goes and we can find another centre who can catch a high crossfield bomb then we won't notice much difference.

As for recent (ish) centres who are far superior, off the top of my head ....... King, Bridge, Hiku, Gleeson, Kohe-Love, Atkins. And even the likes of the much derided Rhys Evans would have a shout too. Further back, Bateman, Duane, Ropati, Rudd, Blake, Vagana .......... point made

Those who dismissed him 2 years ago were just wrong. Rhys Evans? Wow.

I have seen all those in action. King hardly covered himself in glory in his first season and was an Aussie international. Bridge and Gleason were way ahead of him in age/development. If you think King is only about catching high kicks then I wonder what you are seeing. Rudd...should have been great but wasn’t. Hiku a few appearances against lowly opposition. As for R Evans you have to be joking.
I’m not saying he is the messiah but he is the stand out centre in SL this season and improving.

Absolutely this.

It's Thorniley. Big Joe Ro was ace and Tony T was my hero although he sullied his reputation for me by grassing on a fan in the away end at Widnes. Roper was class and should have been better than what he was. I've enjoyed this tonight, see you in another 2 years.

As I've pointed out on here many times before some people are so keen on having an edgy opinion, and on being right they make declarative absolute statements and can't admit when they're wrong.

Rhys Evans was a flop, therefore Toby was going to be as well. And it was only down to them coming through our academy

It depends on the alternatives available and what the knock on effects are for the salary cap elsewhere of giving him a big deal. There are other holes in the squad and if we end up getting beaten out to top line prop or halfback because we'd used up cap on King it doesn't look so good.

I think he's good and one of our better Academy products, but not a once in a generation player worth breaking the bank for. I also think its odd that this bidding war is supposedly against Hull KR, Catalans and Huddersfield. Where are Saints, Wigan and Leeds in the bidding?

Other than the fact that we are in contract negotiations with Toby, we don't really know what is happening. And your competitors will always make a bid for your best players simply because it forces you to pay more.

But I suppose it gives us something to argue about.

That's an interesting list which stretches the definition of 20 years somewhat. Missing in action are Gleeson and Toa.

Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.

No doubt one of your other personas will make an appearance in the meantime.

I thought Saints were supposed to be in for him, I'd be surprised if he isn't on the Aussie's radar like Gildart has been but may be a bit early for TK.

What a horrible job ... balancing the books in a Salary Cap sport. I do not envy them.
