Wonder who at the RFL decided to host a triple header and severely dilute each teams ticket allocation in the process?

The maximum we’ll be able to get in for it is 10,000 and that’s if it were at somewhere like Anfield or the Etihad. Most probably it’ll be at Bolton again, where we’ll only get 4,000 or 25% of capacity in at most.

Surely taking that into account playing it at separate venues or over two days would’ve been better, therefore giving more fans the chance to attend?

Each team will be lucky to get 1,000 tickets because of the triple header decision. Terrible move.

Capacity limits are based on the lower of 25% or 10,000 of seating capacity only, so Headingley would not be a good choice.

Huddersfield would be the logical choice as its central to all teams and all seater, but would only mean a capacity of c6,000.
We could get a max 10,000 if they held it at Elland Road, Eitihad etc
Sensible decision would have been to hold both semi finals across two days, with Women’s game on the Saturday semi final.

No doubt logic won’t apply with the RFL and they’ll hold the games at York or Leigh and celebrate a packed house of 2,000 fans.

Exactly. Logic hasn’t applied with regards to having a triple header so I very much doubt logic will apply when selecting the venue either.

Having the semis at the same venue and on the same day has done nothing more than halve each teams ticket allocation and you’re going to get fans getting the chance to watch a game that is of little or no interest to them, when a thousand or so fans from other clubs won’t get the chance to watch their own team in action.

The idea should’ve been to maximise the amount of fans who could attend, not decrease it.

Ridiculous.

In addition, holding all the games on the same day, you are also merging at least four fan bases from different towns and cities. From what I understand, until June 21st all football and rugby league games are for home fans only

Despite this, I can still see the RFL marketing department advertising this as Rugby League Semi Final Super Spreader Event.

Must admit, I was very surprised when I heard and later read that fans would be present. Even more amazed at the plan of a triple header too, given the fact that away fans aren’t allowed at grounds at that time, but mainly on the issue of the ticketing and the fact it’ll severely restrict each teams ticket allocation.

All seems rather thoughtless, yet avoidable, how fans who are lucky enough to be there will get to watch two games, one of which not involving their team, when there’ll be thousands unable to attend to actually watch their own team.

Unless it’s some sort of pilot event where the capacity restrictions are relaxed somewhat, or unless it’s at a larger stadium such as Elland Road or the Etihad, where supply could perhaps meet the demand, it’s an illogical call from the RFL to not host it at different stadiums or at least on separate days.

As we know though, they don’t do logic.

Considering the current situation I think completely the opposite. Think about the cost savings of one venue over 2 will be huge. 2 of everything with not enough fans to fill a stand .

One stadium maybe, but it should be played over two days. Playing it as a triple header on the one day is short sighted and illogical given how it’ll affect ticket allocations.

People haven’t been to a match in over a year and this should be an opportunity for the RFL to maximise the amount of people who can attend given it’s one of their headline events of the season.

Ridiculous having it as a triple header at somewhere like Bolton or Huddersfield where the crowd will be restricted to around 6,000 fans to be split amongst four Super League teams and two women’s teams.

Why should fans from Saints for example, get to watch Warrington v Castleford, when there’ll be thousands of Warrington or Castleford fans unable to attend due to ticket allocations being cut in half? Then there’s the fans from game one, not bothering to stay for game two because their team has lost or they just want to get home. More empty seats which could’ve normally being taken up had it been held over two days.

A triple header when there’s severe crowd restrictions. The most RFL thing ever.

Mentioned several times on the BBC on Saturday and also on the club website stating that fans will be present.

I would guess that the decisions on this one are not quite as simple and as straight forward as they seem to the outsider. Deciding who goes should be fun.
